Dragons, Squirrels, and Turtles Oh My!! Little man's Boy Scout Blue & Gold Banquet is this Saturday. The theme is Chinese New Year and each boy is to bake and create a cake to sell in that theme for the Bake Sale. This will be interesting...he's "tasked" me to help him create THIS cake...ummm...again...this WILL be interesting as I've never made a character cake much less a 3D cake!!

THEN to top it OFF!! I just realized that the kids school play is next week! So guess what I will be working on this weekend as well?! Trying to figure out how to create some sort of Squirrel costume for my oldest and then little man needs me to make either a lizard or turtle costume!! Told him I thought the turtle would be easier for me but of course he would prefer the lizard! If you have any squirrel and/or turtle/lizard costume ideas that can be made quickly and inexpensively, do share your idea! :-)

wow that cake is gorgeous. it shouldn't be too hard. you can probably use colored chocolate discs for the scales. frosting looks like fondant which is a pliable frosting but kinda hard to master .http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm (recipe)
as for thesquirrelcostume i would go with a gray sweatsuit, use felt to make the spot for the stomach & ears , a fuzzy scarf for the tail.
