Hello to all!  Long time no post!!  So I come to you helpful ladies with questions and ask for your opinions.  My daughter is almost a yr old.  Will be on March 16.  We started getting ear infections about 5 months ago.  We had 3 had the end of last yr.  She started tugging at her ears the end of Jan again.  Took her in on Jan 29th.  Got some amoxacilin(sp).  Took it for 10 days was off for a few and had to go back to the dr again on Feb 15.  Got more meds omnicef for 10 more days.   I called her dr this past friday.  She was tugging at her ears and poking her finger in them again.  The nurse said unless she had a fever they didn't want to see her.  I explained the ear poking and she said she probaby just found her ears.  I thought BS.  She whined and whimpered this weekend.  So I took it upon myself to take her to an ENT that I had personally used.  He said she needed tubes because 20 days worth of antibiotics hadn't worked.  He said when he looked at her ears he expected to not see infection and it was there.  That since we are going on technically our 6th infection in 5 months.  What do ya'll know about infections?  Does anyone have any opinions on them good or bad?  Please help me make my decision.  I have it scheduled for March 6th.  Thanks so much!!

Feb. 25, 2008 at 11:04 PM My DH cronic ear infections and he says they do wonders!  They help the ear to drain correctly so the fluid doesn't get backed up behind the drum causing the infection.  If your doc wants to put them in I say go for it.  I always hate it when my DH's tubes fall out because I know we're in for another nasty round of infections!

Sounds like what we went through with my oldest when she was little.  It got to the point that she stopped talking because she wasnt able to hear because of the continuing infections.  She was just under a year.  I could stand behind her and talk and she would not respond

The doctor recommended the tubes.  It was the hardest thing to see them wheel her down the hall in a huge crib to the surgery room.  But it helped her tremendously.  I am so glad that we did it even though it was hard.  She went right back to talking once it was done.

I would suggest seeing a specialist to see what he/she would recommend.

Good luck
