I kind of have this love/hate relationship with laundry. On one hand I can't stand it. It's time consuming and it kills my back to fold it. On the other hand...I like the basement and the rhythmic thumping of the dryer as I'm down there. It is lulling, lol. Not to mention when the kids were little it was the only place I could escape to that they weren't allowed to be (the basement) and I would spend 20 minutes folding clothes in the relative quiet.
When we lived in PA we didn't have a washer and dryer. Luckily the laundromat was 2 houses away. I would carry 3 or 4 baskets over then hurry back to get the kids (when we first moved they were all so little that they had to walk with me while I carried each basket). Then we'd spend 2 hours locked in the laundromat. That I HATED! I never minded going alone, though. In fact I enjoyed. I only did laundry twice a month back then, so there was a lot to do (I did the kids clothes once a month and then me and hubby's clothes once a month--we had a lot of clothes). What I loved was that amount of laundry would have taken days at home to do but got done in 3 hours tops. I would sit and knit, that gentle thump of the dryers calming my nerves. I always tried to go when it wasn't busy (which meant during the week).
Now I have my own washer/dryer again. It's nice to not have to leave the house to do laundry and I can throw a load in whenever.
The last time I did laundry was a couple days ago. I do the kids laundry on Sundays so I can wash their uniforms. I still only do my stuff every other week or so, same for the baby. When the baskets get full that's when I do our laundry. Which happened to be on Tuesday/Wed this week. I just brought mine up but haven't put it away (that's a whole other issue entirely). The baby's clothes are clean and dry but not folded and half are still in the dryer. I'll get that later today.
