Stuff that I say

Just when I least expect it, something wonderful breaks through my cloudy days.

This has been a crappy week, as many of you know. First, my new sitter quit on Tuesday. Damn girl sat here on my computer and composed her resignation letter and used my printer to print it out. She wanted a job through the summer and I have made it perfectly clear from the beginning that I become a SAHM once school is out in June. She gave us less than a week to find a replacement. So much for getting a handle on my insomnia.

Then my sciatica has been acting up again. Bad. I flipping sneezed the other day and almost passed out from the pain. This makes it rather inconvenient to lift two 20 lb. babies every day. I have never seen a general practitioner since starting my current health ins. so I have to do that before I can get a referral for a chiropractor. I am NOT excited about going to any doctor office during flu season, especially since our whole family was laid out big time last week.

My instructional assistant has been out for 3 days with the flu. I can fully handle my classes without her, but we do small spelling groups so I've had to assign students to run her group instead - a poor substitute IMO but I had no choice, classroom aides rarely get sub coverage. Plus she does all the classroom copies so I've had to walk up and down the stairs and go across campus to the front office to make all our copies this week. With my back problems this has not been a barrel of monkeys either.

Then I got pulled over on Wednesday leaving campus. 39 in a SCHOOL ZONE - WTF! As a teacher this is a particularly embarrassing ticket to get. DH just got a ticket last month too. This never happens to us so I am pissed bc our insurance will take a big hit.

To top it off, my other sitter called me today. Her dad had a stroke this morning and the poor thing was so distraught. Thankfully he is conscious and talking and the doctors say the biggest problem he will experience will be motor skills. But he helps to take care of her elderly grandparents and if he can't do it, she might need to move back to Visalia to help out until he is better. So we might not see her for a while.

So I was laying on my couch tonight waiting for my muscle relaxers to kick in for my back, lamenting what a miserable week it has been and how going to Costco for diapers tomorrow is going to suck, when my angel Emma came over to show me her new Care Bears DVD to cheer me up.

SHE WALKED OVER TO ME!

Three little baby steps and a huge smile. She has been busy practicing letting go of the furniture and standing alone all week, but hasn't tried to take a single step. Until tonight. I m so proud of my big girl!

What a perfect end to a most perfect week! ;o)

Mar. 1, 2008 at 3:29 AM Isn't it amazing how those little bundles of love, know how to cheer us up !!! Dakota got up this morning and fully dressed himself, right down to work boots and a pair of gloves to go to school !! Now it was below zero, and he had no coat on, nor does he go to school, but he was ready !!! It broke my heart to stop him as the others went out the door !!
