I received this timely, valuable info regarding today's VOTE at the POLLS and thought I'd pass it along. Please, Please VOTE TODAY. You may be sick, busy, bored, or annoyed with it all, but PEOPLE DIED in order for us to have this right. Our future depends on US.  If we don't vote, we have no right to complain about our government or it's policies, for we did nothing to change it.

After casting your ballot, it is VERY important that you return to your precinct polling location at 7p for your Caucus! Almost half of your vote for comes from the caucus.

Bring your voters registration or two forms of ID. Bring a blanket to sit on & a picnic because you may be having a tail gate party while you wait for the caucus to start.

Once the meeting is called to order at 7:15 (or whenever the last voter in line votes), you can sign in & leave! It's as easy as that. The only thing that they count is the sign in sheet. If you stay you can persuade those that don't meet the threshold or the inevitable group of attention loving undecided voters but all you have to do is sign & leave unless you want to stay.

BK is the precinct chair at Travis, so trust me when I say... you can sign in & leave no matter what anyone else tells you! There is a bit of a controversy about this due to misinformation in precinct chair training & your precinct chair should know the updated rules but here it is from the Texas Democratic Party, so if you want to-- print this out & take it with you just in case:

1. Precinct Convention Sign-In – Tex. Elec. Code § 174.022 (c), Texas
Democratic Party Rules Article IV, Section B (6)(b)
Participants may NOT begin signing in until the precinct convention has been called to order. The call to order may not occur until 7:15 pm or until the last voter has voted (whichever is later). If, after the convention has been called to order and participants have signed in, any participant who wishes to leave may do so, and their sign in WILL count toward the delegate allocation for each candidate. Sign-In ends when the last person present waiting to sign in has done so.

A Memo from the Tx Dems

& if someone tries to tell you otherwise call the Dem. Hotline at: 1800-DEM-3254 (1-800-336-3254)

Absolutely ANY funny business going on or turning away of voters is ILLEGAL & disenfranchisement, so be very mindful & knowledgeable! & Make sure you advocate (nicely) if you see someone around you being turned away. NO ONE for any reason can be turned away or have their vote marked off unless they just didn't vote at all before 7p on the 4th. If no one will listen you-- USE the hotline!
