Do you think there has been a downward shift in morals among young people in the last 20-30 years? If so, please tell me why you think that. If you think every thing is the same, please tell me why you think that as well! Thanks for your comments!!

well i'm from Canada but my answer would be yes....i'm 34 and even noticed the change in moral's since i was a teen...it's a woe is me pass the buck world out there, there does'nt seem to be any accountability for actions anymore..."i'm like this because of drugs and alcohol' ...." i had a troubled up-bringing"..." i live in poverty" etc. everything in life is a choice and if you choose to be a victim you will be but with more and more court systems and lawyers finding ways to blame crime on ridiculous excuses the younger generation does not see the results of their actions...does this make sense.

Very well said! The true problem is that I do not have a good solution. I am hoping by using these posts and brainstorming, we can find something that we can do at the grass roots level.

The young people are missing so much vital living by avoiding responsibility and "doing as they please". The live for today attitude is so damaging to all around them and they just don't see the long term effects of it.

Thanks Tiffany!

After researching history, I realize that after World War II the baby boomers hardly ever took anything seriously because the WWII generation wanted better for their children than they had so they sheltered them more. I think it's sad but I believe that's the result of today's generation being so spoiled.

I agree to the spoiling. I was one! lol My mom didn't teach me how to do anything because she thought it was just easier and better to do it herself. My grandparents were different and they actually had....EGADS.....chores to do, that were a part of their daily lives, not something they got paid for. I have also noticed that people lack respect in the ways that they address each other. I submitted an article to AC on that subject. Remember back when you never addressed an adult by their first name?? I do. Showing my age!

I am striving really hard to let my son 'help' me do things. If he 'helps' fold the towels and puts them away, btw he's 3 1/2, I let him and I leave them just the way he 'folded' them. No matter how it urks my sense of order. LOL! He's learning and he LIKES it! He also loves to vaccum, 'wash' dishes and put them away, help load the washing machine and help daddy put his work clothes away at the end of the day. He helped plant the garden this year too. Some folks think that children should be 'children' and by that they mean always playing, but really will you PLAY for the rest of your life? OR at 18 will you be chunked out into the real world and not know how to do a single thing for yourself??
