I always get this way this time of year. I wearily peek out the window and whine, "Is Winter over yet?" The past two years it's been worse what with being pregnant last year and this year chasing around a scuttlebug of a baby. I feel like I've been trapped inside forever, even if that's not truly the case. I just miss being able to go outside whenever I please, walk in the sun, enjoy my gardens, and see something besides sleeping grass, bare branches, and empty bird houses. Wake up, world!
But, things are starting to turn. The bulbs are pushing up, the grass is slowly peeking through the brown, and the buds on the trees are getting bigger. Any day now the dogwood and cherry trees will be bursting with flowers (provided we don't have another late frost this year). My magnolia will be beautiful once again. The air will be sweet and filled with birdsong rather than just the faint background noise of the gravel trucks from the quarry.
There's a big warming trend for the next several days. On Friday we had a surprise snow, though it stayed mostly to the north of the city. Hopefully, that's Old Man Winter's last hurrah and we'll be free to enjoy the blossoming Spring. (I'm not holding my breath, but I remain hopeful!) And with the Spring comes both mine and the baby's birthdays!
Oh! Please hurry, Spring!
