So this is the longest I've been on CM in a week. Here's the rundown.
So the flu hit our house with a punch and we went down like a stack of cards! (All tested + for influenza type A) First my 4 year old, then me, then my 19mo old, then my 6 year old (hubbs managed to make it without getting sick, knock on wood!). The oldest two got over it pretty quickly, however my flu decided to give me a pretty hard time and make it virtually impossible to breathe!
I started getting sick Sunday evening by Monday night I could no longer breathe, it was a struggle to for every breath. It got so bad I called hubbs home from work (which I never do) and I called my mom (an RN and asked if I should go to the ER). Hubbs got home and I relaxed knowing there was someone there to take care of the kids and tried to get some rest. All I can remember of that night is feeling like this is the worst I have felt from an illness in my adult life and remember mumbling through my tears "I want my mommy".
Well being a mom now myself I know of that "mommy spidey sense" that 6th sense of knowing one of your babies needs you. Well I think my mom was able to sense that, even with her being 6 hrs away.
I went to the doc Tuesday morning, got some more drugs and went home. I was hoping I would feel better by the evening because hubbs had to go to work and we couldn't afford for him to miss another night. Right before hubbs was suppose to go to work I was panicking. I didn't feel well enough to take care of the kids by myself and had no clue what I was going to do. At that moment my mommy came walking through my front door like an angel sent from heaven! I was so shocked and instantly felt better.
She stayed 5 nights and 4 glorious days. She cleaned my house, took care of my kids and bought us groceries. Thank goodness we got a freak snow storm and she had to stay an additional 24hrs. Basically I've learned you are NEVER too old to need your mommy. You will ALAWAYS be their baby. And they will ALWAYS feel the need to swoop in when you are sick and take care of you no matter how far of a drive it is.
