Just got back from my OB appointment.
Okay, so I chickened. I didn't ask for the blood test. However, I did take my last home test right afterward, which said...

no babies here.

Sigh.

Thank you for taking part in my interactive post. It was fun. Final numbers: I had 207 views, 39 votes, 33%yes, 66%no. We're going to keep trying. I'm taking prenatal vitamins and iron, cutting my caffeine, eating healthy, and hoping (yes, and having sex).

Consolation prize: excerpt from my appointment!
Dr. T - So how's baby Jim doing? (Dr. T called him "Baby Jim" all through my pregnancy because that's his first name and he wanted me to name my kid after him.)
Me - Uh, no, we named him Doctor Bazley, cause he was on call.
Dr. T - Well, I did all the work to get him up to that point!
Me - No, I think I had something to do with that.

I thought it would be fun to see what people think and to do an interactive post. This is not a "OMG could I get/be pregnant?" post. I will not use these results as any diagnostic tool. I WILL be going to my OB on April 1st for a regular checkup and will find out then. Like I said, this is just for fun! So please read the facts, vote, hit popular, add to your shortcuts, sit back, and watch!

Here are the facts:

  • I dreamed I was pregnant, and I could even feel the baby move! Could be the baby fever, could mean something...!
  • My last menstrual period was May 18, 2006. Yes, 2006. My due date was Feb 22, 2007. My son was born Feb 19, 2007. I breastfeed him, though not exclusively since 6 months old (7 months ago). Currently, he nurses to sleep each night and a few times during the day.
  • I have taken three negative home pregnancy tests, the most recent was January 8th.
  • I was on low-estrogen birth control from March 2007-November 2007. I stopped taking it in early November. The first time I was on birth control, I got pregnant within a month of quitting.
  • We started trying to conceive at the same time.
  • We DTD (do the deed) once or twice a week. We do not temp or track or test fertility. We are very relaxed about the whole thing.
  • I like red onions. When I was preg, I craved them in the beginning, then at 2 months I threw them all away. I couldn't stand them, and until a few weeks ago I still couldn't.
  • I do not have any sort of morning sickness, which showed up before the cravings in my first pregnancy.
  • I crave raw almonds.
  • Cravings are not unusual for me.
  • Since my son was born, I have lost weight consistently. I gained 20 pounds during pregnancy, and had lost 30 by my son's first birthday. I have since gained about 2. I am at a slim "normal" weight so I may have just reached a baseline and be fluctuating. I eat about the same amount.
  • I now have heartburn often. I never had that before or after my pregnancy, only during.
Please feel free to ask me any other questions that might help you reach a conclusion. I'm an open book.

I voted "no", simply because you mentioned you are on hormonal birth control. Don't get me wrong, being on BC doesn't mean anything, because I became pregnant while on it. But, my point is, it still releases hormones into your body, and that could be the reason behind the red onions, raw almonds, and the weight issue. However, every woman's body is completely different, and you could be pregnant!!! Are you going to get a blood test by your midwife or OB anytime soon? I don't trust OTC pregnancy tests. I was 3 months along when I found out I was pregnant with both my daughter and this one I'm carrying now, and the prior pg tests all came up negative.

Voting it popular! Hope you are pregnant, if that's what your heart truely desires! =D

Mar. 19, 2008 at 3:19 PM I'm not on BC anymore. I stopped in November. The first time I stopped taking it I became preg within a month. I will be getting a blood test April first. Wow, three months? Really cuts down on the preparation time!

Apr. 8, 2008 at 2:01 PM Just thought I'd mention, because you are TTC, that you might want to look into taking some False Unicorn. It's an herb and it's just natural progesterone. This will help your uterus for a potential pregnancy and is just over all a great herb to take. I'd suggest taking it in tincture though =)
