And Now ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Part Four
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The canopy of leaves above me began to fade, the world shifted. No longer was I surrounded by a forest full of life. I find myself staring up at a white ceiling, surrounded by white walls. In the background, there is a faint wailing, like that of a banshee. For some reason, none of this concerns me. I simply sit and stare, listening to the banshee wail, and the gentle whirring of the ceiling fan.
Slowly my mind clears of the fog, and I realize that I am home. The keening banshee is my daughter, and it is time for her to get up from her nap. I drag myself through the motions of the day, longing to once again find myself in the woods, following a mysterious wolf and wondering what it all means. There is laundry to be done, meals to be made, ouches to kiss, and babies to sing to.
The day passes by as if it is the dream, and soon I will awake once more to the real world. Which truly is real? Is this endless life of laundry and spit-up a nightmare? Or is my walk in the woods a wonderful fantasy? I no longer can say for certain. I long for the simplicity of the woods.
I'm in the middle of the next scene...but I have to make lunch...hehe
