I'm starting a new thing, let's see how it goes.  I would like to do a few controversial quotes on America/patriots/liberty and everything else that has to do with this great country.

There will be woman all over cafemom that will be posting a different one daily/weekly...we'll see how it goes!

All I ask is that you debate respectfully, if it gets out of hand, I will talk to you personally and then delete your replies.  I want this as a learning experience for all!

That being said, here's the quote and my commentary on it:

This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.

~Elmer Davis

I chose this as the first quote, because I believe that we are in a mood in America that some are calling the "Pussification of America".

We are, I feel setting our children to fail.  We are making so many rules to keep them "safe" both emotionally and physically, that when we set them free in the REAL WORLD, they become nothing but a HUGE hindrance to society.  They are lost and scared and don't have Mommy or Daddy to help.

We make rules and laws that are making people scared to walk the streets at night.  We need to take back our streets, our towns, our homes!!!!

We are becoming more and more scared of our own shadows.  If we keep this us, we won't be free.  We will be prisoners within our own lives...some are already.

What do YOU think????

I suspect "home of the brave" will mean many things to many people ... but for me, being the home of the brave means Americans being brave enough to stand up for freedom and against tyranny even if -perhaps especially if - that tyranny is directed against us from within.

When we see our politicians and elected officials busily trading our freedom for votes and power ... it is our duty to expose them and their agenda ... vote them out of office ... and elect new representatives as new guards of the Republic!

Mar. 16, 2008 at 11:16 PM Such an interesting quote especially in a time of war.  It could be taken different ways but I have t agree with the PPs.  It's not easy to keep freedom from government and bravery does seem to be required.

You're right SlapItHigh. It's not easy to keep freedom from government. Especially when they make it so damned easy to depend on them.  As long as you can keep breeding they can help you out! All you have to be able to do is fill out the paper work! BUT WAIT! You can't read well enough to understand the forms?( We wouldn't want any child "Left behind" now would we?) NO PROBLEM! They have someone who can help you with that! ALL FOR FREE! They have pre-natal care and WIC! They will even deliver your baby for free! What was that? You have no place to live? NO PROBLEM! They will give you a place to live! They will even give you a monthly ration of food! WOW!

I would be hard pressed to turn down that kind of help myself! And, I'm 44 years old! The difference between the young women of child-bearing years and me? I've lived long enough to know that the kind of help "they" are offering AIN'T FREE!

Mar. 22, 2008 at 1:49 AM Where did you find this one? That is awesome. I totally agree. Also, i might add, that there are so many parents out there who are either not as involved in their children's lives or they are becoming the friend instead of the parent. Kids do not have basic values taught to them anymore, it seems. So then in turn our country has become "pussified." It is up to every individual to take back their neighborhoods and to knock on their neighbors doors. It seems we don't know our neighbors anymore
