Just a warning. I purchased a camera from Fotoconnection.com last week. I ordered:
1 Olympus Stylus 850 in Pink
1 XD card 1G
The promo was buy a camera and receive a case, tripod, and lens care kit free. The other promo was buy one memory card, receive a free memory card and a card reader.
They were the cheapest on the camera. They were not the cheapest on cards, but it was made up for by the free items.
Two days after I placed the order online I got a phone call. A guy calling to confirm my order. He asked what type of battery I wanted. I said it should come with one. He said no and that he could "throw in" one for $50 and proceed to want to add other things to my order. He then said the new total would be something like $380 (orig was $328) and would add expedited shipping at no cost. At the time of the call I was in pain from a tooth that needed a root canal and hadn't slept in a couple of nights. I did not want to hear this. I told him to cancel the order that I would buy from some place else. He got upset and said he would send me everything at the price I had already paid.
I received the camera on Friday. Just the camera and two cards. Nothing else. Oh, it did have a battery. The box listed the contents it should have and it had them all. I did not get the card reader or the other free accessories AND they charged me $10 more. I called the company. Was told the accessories were on backorder. That was fine. The guy went on to say that for $12 I could upgrade to a better accessory kit and he would include a card reader. I told him that I just wanted what was owed to me (I have a copy from their site stating you receive a free card reader with a card purchase). He got pissy and went on about how this was a good deal and that I was an idiot for turning it down. I said nevermind that I would return the camera. He said they wouldn't take it back and if they did then I would definitely be charged a 15% restocking fee. WTF!?! I hung up and emailed the company. I plan to contest the charge on my credit card as a bait and switch.
I know this is long. Sorry. Just wanted to warn anyone out there. Thanks for reading!
