Today I took my kids to the park and suddenly found myself dancing around the equipment and singing " Hopelessly Devoted to You" from Grease at the top of my lungs. Was I singing to my husband, or some long past unrequited love you may ask? Not exactly. I was singing to an old friend I recently parted ways with, Camel Filters. I quit smoking on monday. It has been a rough road. I not only get the mental withdrawels, but a healthy dose of physical pain as well, when I quit. I am doing it. It is worth it. It is just really really hard because I really really love cigarettes. I had an epiphany this time that I really am going to have to mourn them as if they were a person, because I don't feel that much different than I would were I to lose a relative. I am even considering having a cigarette funeral just to give myself that clean break. Maybe I am crazy (ok, definately I am crazy, I sing in the park for goodness sakes, regularly actually) but I just miss them so much. It is definately not helping that my DH quit too, and we have both turned into sensitive, whiney, cranky brats, and our mood is in turn rubbing off on the children.  I will get through this though. I need to do it for myself, and for my kiddos, but man is it ever a drag (bad cigarette joke fully intended). I just needed to rant a bit so I don't go completely off the deep end here. Now I am going to go scrub my kitchen floor and sing "amazing grace" to an empty pack of smokes. Nighty-night.

Mar. 21, 2008 at 1:19 AM Stay strong!!  Yay for you!!!  My hubby quit not long after we met, and it's still hard when he goes through a stressful time, but we're both glad he doesn't smoke anymore.  It will get easier, and there will actually be days you don't have a craving.  Hang in there!!!!

I hate to say this sweetie, but you went off the deep end when you started singing grease....but hey, we've all done that!!!  As long as you have a floatation device, the deep is a pretty fun place to hang out!

Be strong!!  Lots of cinnamon gum and drink lots of grapefruit juice (the vitamin c helps flush out the nicotine faster.  the strong taste helps get that cig taste out.)

Good luck!  We're all here if you need us!!!

I'll send you those gum cigs if you want! lol

Yay!! I see you're determined, and that's good.  Maybe when you're both feeling cranky and in need of a smoke, just go make out like a high school couple.  It helps you keep your minds off the cigarettes AND you get that extra-dilly fun outta the way!  :)
