What?? Where's Courtney??

I don't know what's going on in this place.

I get up this morning to do my Trunkdumpers morning post and find that it is now MY weightloss group and it is NO LONGER called Trunkdumpers. Then I start looking around and find a post from Courtney on TD titled "Deleting my Account"....here let me post it for you:

Hi Ladies!

I shall be deleting my account here at CafeMom immediately. Depending on whether or not certain policies are changed, I may return at some point in the future.

I am transfering ownership of the group to Mrs. E but am also changing the name before I do so. Rachel and I originally wanted to start Trunkdumpers OUTSIDE of CM but were convinced by the others to keep everything here.

Now that both she and I have left, I'd like to get the idea rolling outside of this site.
Thank you all for your involvement, support, laughter, and fabulous Trunkdumping humor!

So my questions for all of you ladies out there in the Cafe......What the hell is going on???

What policies is she talking about?

Did someone "run" her off??

Why is Courtney gone?

And by the way she really is gone, this is not a "stunt"......just try clicking on her profile......

Whatever these policies are that she is talking about, can we please get them changed??

I would like to have my Courtney back......Wouldn't you???

Like you, I have no idea what is going on. I read that post that brandinwooten is talking about, but it wasn't exactly clear what happened in the post, just something to the effect that she was taken off the ratings system?  I'm stumped and would like her to come back!

I read all her posts. Especially yesterday's (I re-read them this morning), I was just wondering if anyone else had more info and if anyone else wanted to get Courtney back.

What are the policies that need to change and how can we change them??

I also agree with you Pam......what a shame!!

I just re-read the post she made that is #2 on the most popular journals. All those comments weren't there when I read it, so I went through all the pages, reading everything. Cafemom made a comment in there and it seems we are being censored for what we say on here.

I have never been offended by anything Courtney has written and by reading the comments, neither have a lot of the other mother's on here.

When CM commented, they didn't give an inkling as to why some of these mother's posts were being deleted. It's just a shame and it makes for a really crappy and deceitful website.

How sad when you can't speak your mind without fear of getting deleted, or in KL's situation...hacked and stalked! At this point one would be fearful of their own life. This is outrageous!

Revolt at Cafemom

There's a rally cry that can be heard all around Cafemom, and the avatars are proof that people are pissed . They should be pissed. You should be pissed, as it affects us all. Bigotry is rampant on this site. My being firm of my convictions, calling people out and doing the job the site administrators should have done, resulted in my removal. I didn't break TOS, although the site administrators did for removing me and allowing the continued use of slurs. I let them know that I was starting a letter campaign to their sponsors about the situation, I challenged them, and just like that I was deleted. . They don't like being questioned or challenged, neither do the bigots. Membership at MYP www.makeyourpoint2.com has been boosted as a result, so at least some good came of this.

I continue my letter writing campaign, alerting feministing.com, Cafemom's sponsors, CNN, who had some blurb of praise on their site, The Boston Globe, who currently did a 2 page article praising "a space for everyone". That's evidently true, and not in a good way. I have written about 50 letters so far.

So it seems a few of the offending parties (aka bigots) decided to follow me and trying to obtain my online and personal information. They even went so far to try and get my home address as they wanted to "send" me something, nice huh? I even had one girl boast that her dad is a "crooked" cop in Georgia, and if she really wanted to get me , she could.  Sounds a little stalkerish, but she insists that she is not, and never would because "stalking is serious business". Um... Okay.

This all stems from me calling people out who continued to hide behind "I have a right to my own opinion" or "it's free speech". Sorry gals as a wise woman ( thanks courtney) has said, racism is not an opinion. To add to this, gay bashing is not an opinion. Picking on people with mental disabilities, is not an opinion. Hate speech is just that, based on hatred and fear and yes, ignorance.

So in closing , if you see a blurb in the paper about me being attacked or receiving of some dead animal head in a box, look to Cafemom for the reason and the answers.

Mar. 16, 2007 at 7:53 PM I wasn't part of her friend's list but I enjoyed reading her posts.  I may have disagreed with some things but her posts were well written.  I think this whole situation has gone way too far.
