Our Easter will memorable this year for all the wrong reasons. It all started on Saturday. It was a strange kind of day. Maybe the moon was full. Maybe it was the freak early Easter we had. I don't know. As I was getting dressed, the power went out for a minute. No big deal. It happens from time to time here. I didn't think anything of it. It was Bil's weekend to work, so Stella and I went out on in the morning to run some errands. While we were out, we saw a utility pole that had snapped and left power lines hanging all over the road about a mile from home and a car accident about a half mile from home. It didn't seem to be a good day to be on the road, so we headed home.

I sat Stella down for lunch and was just about to throw dinner in the Crock Pot when the power went out again. This time it wasn't coming back on. Just what I needed after filling the freezer with groceries. I put Stella down for her nap and waited...and waited. Still no power. Stella decided not to take a nap that day, so we walked down to the mailbox to pass the time. We ran into our upstairs neighbors who told me that the problem wouldn't be fixed for at least nine hours. Apparently, another pole had just snapped. What was going on?!! It was already getting chilly in the apartment, so I took Stella to my parents' house for the rest of the day. Power was supposed to be restored around 11:00pm, so we headed back home to sleep in our own beds. Big mistake. It was out all night and it was still out when I got up this morning. It was so cold! We did the Easter Bunny thing, gathered up all our stuff, and headed back to my parents' house.

Stella had started coughing overnight. By Sunday afternoon, she was feeling pretty warm. She's a trooper though. We headed to my grandma's house for dinner. Stella's cough was getting worse and she was starting to sound a little congested. We got the news around 7:00pm that the power had come back on. We left and looked forward to sleeping in our nice, warm beds. Unfortunately, nobody is going to get a good night's sleep. Stella is not sleeping well at all. She's so miserable. It looks like we'll be making a trip to the doctor on Monday. The Easter Bunny was supposed to bring candy and toys, not germs!

Mar. 24, 2008 at 8:34 AM Aww! I am so sorry! Yuck! Did your groceries stay good? I hate when the power goes out. I'm sorry your Easter was bad. Hopefully your week goes better and poor Stella will get better too!
