I find that I have similar traits from both my mom and dad, but mostly my mom. My mom is a clean freak and when we grew up nothing was ever good enough. She had good intentions, but anytime we did our chores she redid them because of her obsession to be perfect. Her house had to be perfectly clean, clothes folded perfectly, dinner cooked a certain way, the list goes on and on. In this way I can sometimes be very similar. I have a certain way I fold the clothes, everything has to have a place and be organized, when I clean I'm very thorough, the list goes on and on.
The main difference is that I have so much fun teaching Ava how to do things to help me out and she is so proud of herself when she accomplishes something, how could I ever ruin that joy? She actually does do a great job. The key is teaching her that every toy has a place and make it easy for her to access, she does a great job. Another big difference is that if I'm tired at the end of the day, then I relax and leave the housework for the next morning. I'll spend about 15 min a night just straightening up.
The other main difference between my mom and me is I have learned the importance of mommy time. When I was growing up, my mom dedicated every moment of her life to us and my dad, I don't remember her doing a lot for herself. I want to set a good example for Ava. So we do our nails, and take bubble baths together, and I spend at least an hour a day on just myself.
My mom has taught me many good things about being a wife and a mother and I'm glad I was raised the way I was. Its all about improving as the generations go by, and one day Ava will be a better mother to her kids.
