For those of you with littler kids... feel lucky. When the kids are in elementary school, they send notes home when they have alot of flu and such going on in the school. When they hit middle school, sometimes they do and more often they don't. When they hit highschool it seems it more everykid for himself!
Here's the deal.................
Right before spring break, my daughter came home itching and scratching. I thought great! What have they been doing in Chemistry now.....lol! (jk) I asked all the standard questions... what'd ya eat, drink, and she didn't do anything out of the ordinary. My mom told me there was a gal at work with the same symptoms who goes to the highschool. Neither are in PE now so, that's not it. Last night, my son started the itchy scratchy show. He is broken out all over! UGH! Gross! I call the doctors office. They say that fifths disease is going around. WTF is fifth's disease and why haven't the parents been told it's in the school? I talk to the nurse a bit since both my kids have medical issues and I need to get this itching under control. (my son takes alot of meds for his allergies and cvs already) I have to take them in.
Well, they don't have this fifths disease. They have some virus now that they don't know what it is. The doc has even had it but, it's going around. Does this make me feel better........ uh, no...... both kids have to start prednisone to deal with the itching since they have tried antihistamines and they have done zippo to help.
So, this is just a heads up to all the other mommies out there!
