Does anyone know what is the absolute BEST, and SAFEST car seat is on the market?

My baby is only 4 months old and almost too heavy for his rear facing Graco Snug Ride.  ( He's 18 lbs.)

I've heard you can buy some that you can use from ages 1 (or 20lbs) to age 5 ?  I hope that there is one like that out there and that is rated SAFE in a crash test.  I own a Dodge Caravan 2006 model.

Mar. 17, 2007 at 12:14 AM I've heard that the Alpha Omega car seat is the best. It starts out rear facing and then turns around. Plus the kid can use it until they are 100 lbs. Good Luck!

Mar. 17, 2007 at 12:25 AM Both of my kids are in the normal wal-mart boughten Graco forward facing seats. I believe this work great, because when I was pregnant with my son, My daughter was in one and we were involved in a head on collision that sent everyone to the hospital. My daughter was the only one who had minor damage, the wreck made her bite her tounge. Ever since then, thats the only carseat for me! (grandmother was driving, and had a broken back, i was in passenger seat and got a broken thumb and the lady in the other car had cracked ribs)

I too am a new mom and facing the same problem.  I was looking into a new car seat for my 2 month old son and the one that I found, that I really like is by Safety 1st.  It is a infant/toddler/booster seat in one.

Here is the link to the page.

Mar. 24, 2007 at 12:15 AM I've used the Alpha Omega Carseat for my twins since birth and they are now 4 years old and in great condition.  My husband is a State Trooper and went through crash test ratings and affordability and he liked this one they're around $130 now.

Mar. 30, 2007 at 12:34 PM i got the evenflow triumph (rated second to britax) it is awesome. I have had no problems with it. I do reccomend that you actually put your son in the seat at the store and play around with it before you buy it.
