"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"   -Epicurus

God gave us free will to do as we choose.  There is evil in this world. Bad happens to the good and the bad it happens to everyone. But  If we trust in Him and believe in Him  through everything He will get us through it, but you have to have faith. Not only do we have to believe in God but most importantly we have to believe that He sent His only son Jesus to suffer and die for our sins, and our sickness.

But Jesus looked at them and said, "with men it is impossible, but not with God;for with God all things are possible."  Mark 10:27

"Each time He said, "my gracious favor is all you need.  My power works best in your weakness. " so now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me.  2 Corinthians 12:9

When we go through trials it makes us stronger,  what we can't do, GOd can.  God will always get you through any situation.  I love God and I am thankful for all that He has done for me.  He has blessed me in every part of my life and without Him I would be lost.

I believe that God is willing and able, but He choose to give mankind the freedom of choice. If mankind chooses evil and innocent people suffer the consequences, it is sad, and NOT God's will. He could have stopped it, but then He would be taking the gift of free will back that He gave mankind. If I tell my children that they can choose what they want to do, and they choose to eat sweets and watch TV instead of eating their vegies and doing their homework and then step in and say NO, you have to do your homework before watching TV... then I would have lied by saying that they could choose what they wanted to do! You can't tell someone they have free choice, then step in and take it away if they don't do what you want them to do, even if their choice is something that hurts themselves or others!

The real question should be: was God wrong in giving mankind free will? Did a "perfect" God make a mistake in allowing mankind to make evil choices??

Mar. 29, 2008 at 11:13 AM I feel that my life is wonderful, I don't feel lost, and I don't have any terrible issues or tragedies that have occurred to me. On the other hand, did you read the journal I wrote about the 5 month old baby that was raped, with permission from her parents for $10,000? Where was God? She didn't even have a chance to fight back, pray, or anything. All religions claim the same thing. If you believe and follow the rules, you will be blessed, and sometimes you won't. I am blessed, and not by God, but because of my own free will that God didn't give me, but that all creatures instinctively have. I don't do the right things because that is the Christian thing to do or for fear I will go to Hell. No...I do the right things because they are the right things to do.

It is Satan that does those bad things.  Those people choose horrible things to do to that child God didn't thats why He wants us to choose HIM beleive in HIm trust in HIM.  Those parents obviously didn't that was horrible for them to do that to their own child or for anyone to do that to any child! and God will punish them for what they did. I hope you can see that God gave us free will people choose to do things on their own and those parents choose a HORRIBLE thing to do to that baby!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5-6

ANd Christians don't do good things because of fearing they will go to hell ( if you accept Jesus Christ you are forgiven and you won't go to hell)we do good things because we are christians and GOD is good!  We don't do it out of fear. we do it because we want to do good on our own.

Mar. 29, 2008 at 11:36 AM It is going to be the same answers that are always given, If something Good happens then people thank god, if bad then it is "god's will" or caused by "satan".  I see it as people trying to find comfort in the things they do not understand or cannot accept.

I praise God for the bad times too sweetie.

What I mean by this is because the battles I've faced in life ended up being a good thing...because life is what we make of it and personally I learned more about myself and God by facing the hard times.  You can either wallow in your own self-pity or stand up, dust yourself off and move one.  Before I knew Jesus I would wallow (I wallowed for 8 yrs after my dad died and I felt cheated and blamed God), after - I picked myself up with God's help and moved on one day at a time and was better for it.  Crutch, you might say?  No God is not a crutch but with a personal relationship I can rely on Him.  That's the best sort of relationship, is it not?  Being able to rely on someone who will NEVER fail you.

Ok, I'll take on your next sentence.

"I see it as people trying to find comfort in the things they do not understand or cannot accept. "

There is no comfort in knowing that there is something so evil and vile that is alive on this earth.  I know Satan's real because of the pure evil that is in some people.  I'm not making this up, millions of people are not making this up....there is something inherently evil out in the world.  I love the quote I've heard from many people...the smartest lie Satan ever told the world is that he doesn't exist.

On the other hand.  God's will is very comforting because I understand and accept it.  It's part of the submission to Him that if you are not a child of God you will never understand.  For that I am sorry because there is a freedom and a peace knowing that I am a child of God and that His will for me is even greater and more wonderful than my own will.   If I went under my own will...I wouldn't have had the wonderful experience of being a stay-at-home mom...which is something I never even dreamed of wanting!!  I was on a much different path before I knew God, and frankly I would still be the cynical, spiteful, sarcastic, unhappy person I was before I knew Him.
