Doing what is right!!!!!!!! God?

Being Christian, or many other faiths say to do what is right by their standards, or face consequences. Why do you do the right thing?

I do the right thing, not because of God or other higher powers, but simply because it is the right thing!

Mar. 29, 2008 at 12:04 PM I do the right thing because I believe I am a humanist.  I care about people and I care about their welfare.  I don't have morals based on a religion and I don't judge others based on their religion.

Ditto.  I was raised with good morals.  I had great parents to model myself after but I didn't realize my full potential for "good doing" until after I gave my life for Christ.  After that point...well let's just say I did a 180 in the giving department.  I think God puts that kind of will in your heart because He was all about giving as well....even giving up His Son.  I think once I understood that...there was no holding back!   I look back to my life before and I was completely selfish!

 i do the right things because i was raised to do so and have good manners and morals but i do believe there are consequences to your actions on a higher level than just worldly.... i guess i am speaking of heaven and hell. my views on this are a lot different now than they were before i read to bible. i beleive you have to have a relationship with GOd and try really hard not to sin and repent of those sins you do end up doing to get into heaven.
