I'm having a bad day (vent little long)

Ok so today I work 8 am to 10 pm well I got here and did my morning thing about 8:45 the fire alarms start going off and we evacuated the building (21 floors) determine there is no fire or smoke and try to get everyone back inside. The elevators for half the building are locked down from the alarm. So we call the fire department to come back and fix them before that happens the building manger fixes it so they work and we tell the fire dept they don't have to come. All well and good my throat hurts from talking loud and my back is killing me. It is now a little after 9.

A resident calls and needs to see the manager. (about 10:30 I think) Ok fine I call him and tell him. (He lives on site) Mr. Manager gets all snotty because it is a weekend and he is supposed to be off and I'm not supposed to bother him for anything except an emergency or a question. Blah Blah Blah the residents already don't like him so I would think he would be wanting to kiss ass and since he is never home and he happened to still be here I called him. Gee sorry. So anyway he is carrying on for a good 10 minutes about how its his weekend and I wasn't supposed to bother him and if the resident doesn't hurry up and get down here he is going back home and not helping them. GRRR. The resident finally gets downstairs and he is all Mr. Happy and Polite I wanted to scream.

Now another resident comes down and tells me there is a noise coming from the water heater room right next to him so I go up and look at it. There is the water heater and pipes running out of it going up and then a red thing on the pipe plugged into the wall and that is what was making the noise. So I unplugged that and said screw it I'm not calling him.

Now I point out that yes I know it is his day off but these are luxury condos and the people want to be catered to. He lives on site for that reason. However he is never here. He works M-F 8-5 I know he doesn't actually spend the 8-5 working and the residents know it too they don't like him they don't like the way he treats people. So before you jump on me saying it was his day off he says before he leaves everyday if I have any problems call him. I think that is what I did. He has worked in this kind of building before there shouldn't be a set schedule for him if he is needed he should be there that's why they have him live in the building.

Ok I think I'm done I was just so freaking pissed I didn't know if I should quit or cry or what.

Mar. 29, 2008 at 2:42 PM You boss is a loser.  If he wants weekends off then he should get a new job.  When you're living on site, he is suppose to cater to his tenants.  It sounds like he's taking them for a free ride - probably lives there for free, etc.  He needs to find somewhere else to work.  Have a better day ! At least you take your job seriously.

Ya'll need to see about getting his sorry ass booted and replaced with someone who will DO the WORK as it is to be done.
