We're almost done with the first set of swim lessons (which, as I feared, were not really age appropriate) but yesterday we worked on submerging and he did very well. I actually think he likes it.

I'm so excited. He kicks and splashes and sticks his face in (though I don't think that part's intentional) and generally seems to be lovin' the water.

I wish there was a real "water babies" class somewhere in the area (the ones I've looked into in SM and Kyle are from 6 months to either 4 or 5 years, the majority of the participants at least being experienced walkers who can follow basic instructions. So there obviously isn't alot of focus on the littlest ones. The babies of the group are left out of almost all of the "activities".)

I assume they just combine the baby class with the preschool kids because they don't think that enough babies will sign up to fill a class of their own. But I know several moms with babies who would love to participate if a class specifically for babies was actually available. I'm going to have to talk to some people about this......get something going.

So if anyone wants to have a baby pool party with me, let me know! We're all over it......

Apr. 2, 2008 at 3:07 PM I would love to have a baby pool party...but I'm sure you live states away lol. We will be teaching Kaylee how to swim this summer. We have a pool in the back yard, so in May the fence is going up around it and we will be teaching her to swim.

Apr. 2, 2008 at 3:10 PM Damn, that's too bad. I have a couple of friends with little ones, and apparently the outdoor pools are still a bit chilly, so we're stuck using the local indoor public pool for now. But soon! And once we've adjusted to the outdoor pools, we might try braving the river. (Though that water's pretty damn chilly even for ME, so I'm not sure how the babies will take to it.....we'll see.)

May. 20, 2008 at 12:40 AM Ahh, we're not at that stage anymore... Would've been fun, though! There is a local woman here (OR) who teaches newborns to swim, while the dive reflex is fresh. I've seen her do it with 2 week-olds, very cool! We didn't do it with our daughters, too costly, but intriguing. Hope your class works out for you!!
