Ok so the past few weeks I've been starting to get a little heartburn here & there. Only this past week has it been REALLY affecting my sleep. About 2 weeks ago I'd wake up with a little pain; no biggie - nothing a little Tums or Pepcid won't handle. Well, TONIGHT I've been trying to sleep for FOUR HOURS and it's not so much painful as it is, well, GROSS because, well.... it's making me throw up.
:(  The second I lay down it hurts, so I take a tums. Pain subsided. Then I just keep swallowing and swallowing and swallowing, and my breathing is labored because it constantly feels like I'm about to have one of those giant painful hiccups that accompanies heartburn, and I'm trying to prepare myself for it. It never comes. Finally I doze for a second and I wake up violently because I'm choking on a little spit up. (GROSS!) This happens over and over and about an hour ago I just had full-blown thrown up... twice. It REALLY sucks because tomorrow is my baby shower and I want to get some sleep so I can prepare for a big day.

I guess my sleeping days are officially over - baby's not getting any smaller so the heartburn won't get any better, and after she's born, that's when the REAL sleep deprivation begins. *sighhh*... Goodbye wonderful rest!!!! We'll meet again someday!

Hmmm.... cucumbers, huh? That actually sounds kind of yummy!! I never had heartburn either, until now. Well I finally was able to sleep from about 3 to about 8:30. Now the beautiful morning sun is screaming in my window and I have to get up anyway because I have to throw some stuff in the crock pot so my hubby has something to eat when he gets home. At least I caught a FEW zzz's.

I thought about sleeping in a recliner, but the truth is, I seriously have sleep issues anyway - I'm VERY particular on how I sleep or my body just won't do it. I have to be on my side with the door shut and a fan on.... I hate being this way but truly - I've tried to sleep in situations like business trips rooming with other people or camping, and other than my home comfort and my body JUST WON'T. I'm gonna try tonight to sleep in the recliner but I am about 99% sure it won't work. (Well, I better keep a positive head about this - going into it negatively just proves it a failed attempt. I take it back - It WILL work!!!!)
Thanks for the advice, ladies!!
WOW - 11 years of heartburn? :(  I'm sorry!! Have you gone to the doc about that?

Apr. 6, 2008 at 10:25 AM Ugh. I don't miss that at all. I took one Prilosec OTC everyday. It helped 100%. My OB said taking it was ok! It's kinda expensive, but it's worth it.
