Visiting guests and Family Part I

Ok! I did something pretty amazing last weekend...

Last week I received a call from someone whom is involved in a community movement and asked if Id be willing to invite 3 guests whom I don't know over and show them family hospitality.

Obviously I said well I can have 2 as I don't have a bed for the third one..

Here I was thinking its a little inconvenient having to do my Passover annual Spring cleaning but then it might be a good and interesting experience, they speak a version of English (Sth African) and are 18 yr old teenagers and might be a positive companions with motivation to play with my children..  A guy for my son and a girl for my two twin girls..

So I pick them up after spending the morning cooking and welcome them into my home.  Turns out the guy knows a friend of mine from Sth Africa and I think  how great it'll be telling my son he can ask him to go bike riding with him!!

After dinner the kids go to bed , I get out all our liquers to give them a great experience , hubby is pretty sick and plays chess with the guy and I go off with the girl for a spin around our town to show her our suburb..

The girl is really nice , she appreciates me taking her to see our towns highlights at night and in the morning she folds up her sheets and even reads the twins a book before bed, but the guy tells me my children are very energetic and leaves the bed a mess and I wonder when he feels he will think about me and my children..

Well it appears men will be men, or maybe the guy is from South Africa and is used to having servants taking care of all his needs and so he expected me to wait on him..

They decide to leave on the early bus and so hubby being sick after cooking and cleaning for 7 people all weekend I drive them to the bus stop to return to Jerusalem.  Thinking that maybe the bus won't leave according to the timetable knowing that Sabbath has not yet finished I decide to stay close by after visiting a friend for 30 mins and see them waiting ever so grateful that I came to pick them up..

I serve them tea make them a bite to eat and shower my daughters and make everyone something quick so hubby can rest as he is really ill and rush to dress myself to go and hear a lecture that was due to start after once again taking my guests to their bus.

Will I do it again, I recollect the weekend wonder what I really was looking for, after receiving a phone call from my sister wondering why I hadn't rung her in a fortnight and surprised to hear from hubby about my guests!

I think it would be a bit exciting having guests from a different country staying at my home for a weekend!  They would have to speak English, of course, because if they didn't...hmmm...we'd have a problem!  But just think of what a person could learn in just a few short hours...

We host students when it is our school's turn to host a sporting event. Since the kids ceomt from other International schools, it is like having the UN here. A couple of girls were a little demanding about having their uniforms washed everyday, but we do have servants so it wasn't too bad. Mostly the kids are great. Last time we hosted f boys from the soccer team in Bombay. 2. seniors and 2 junoirs. One was fron Canada, one was from the USA, one was from Korea and the other was from ISREAL! They played soccer with the twins and when we went to school the next day, my son asked "Are my brothers playing soccer at my school today?"
