Moms United in Business has taken off MUCH faster than I ever imagined. To be honest, I assumed that where we are now is where we would be once Little Miss and Princess started kindergarten (soon to be 2, and soon to be 1! Then add my tween to the mix!). I guess I underestimated myself, to say the least!
I am plum tickled that my vision and my mission is taking off. But, the fact of the matter is, I am a work at home MOM. Mom being the keyword here.
What does this mean to me? That I am an ambitious woman, with dreams of my own, and I am seeing I have what it takes to actually make a go of it, but I choose to stay home for my children. I am a stay at home mom/work at home mom by choice. There seems to be a notion in the general public that a lot of at home moms are uneducated, lazy, and are unable to make anything of themselves.
This, my friends, could not be further from the truth! I am currently doing product reviews for some of my MUIBers, and the talent, dedication and ideas they have are astonishing! These women are not only educated, but oh so very talented, and I am honored my life's calling is to help them achieve their personal and professional goals!
That said, online is how I work. Via phone when I get a chance. Outside meetings and such, not something I can commit to right now. I have had so many invitations for local networking lately, and while I am sad I am unable to attend these functions, again I have to say my children are my main priority.
They always will be. But, as they grow, and start school, I will be able to do more outside of the home and be able to attain my own goal of running MUIB as an actual business full time.
Some may be put off by me not attending functions, or my inability to return phone calls promptly...I am by no means trying to be unprofessional. To me, having the chance to be home with my children is a gift, a gift I cannot take for granted. They are on loan to me for only a short while, and they will leave to pursue lives and dreams all their own. They are my little miracles, my blessings.
While I am a huge advocate for women making their own money, and pursuing their own passions, I am also an advocate for moms that make financial and personal "sacrifices" to be there for their kids.
For me, the "sacrifices" are actually blessings, as I have been given a gift and an opportunity to raise my own children, and to be an active parent in their day to day lives.
Let me also make this CLEAR. I am not into "Mommy Wars", and I am NOT saying the choice my husband and I have made works for everyone. There are women (and I have MANY friends as examples) that prove to me that working outside the home makes THEM better mothers.
Here's a concept. Let's all make the best decisions for ourselves and our families. What works for one woman/family may not work for another.
What I am sharing is what works for me, who am I and what I want out of this life.
We get one life, one chance. Do what makes YOU and your loved ones happy. Let's unite, support and show both compassion and understanding...whatcha think?
I would love to hear your own stories, and any feedback you would like to share!
Wishing You an Abundance of Blessings,
