How to find a decent doctor?

How do you find reviews about doctors in your own area? Is there a place on line that does not cost money that gives reviews "complaints and good things" about physicians?      I am in need of a primary care provider and though we have a few of them in my area I do not know which one to choose, nor do I want to make the same mistake twice and find another flaky quaky doctor!
