Well, I *thought* I was going to have a stress free day yesterday......
We were sitting here relaxing, Aiden was nursing, DH and I were watching tv, and all of a sudden, it goes off. Then on. Then off. Then on. No one is *NEAR* the remote. No one is near the tv.
Then it starts switching of and on more rapidly. Ugh. Then the sound went out. Completely. Next, the tv channels, not thru the cable box, but the "snow" when not on channel 3 for cable, began flashing thru, 1-125. Then 1-17. Then 1.2.3.4.5.1.2.3.4.5. Then just 1.2.1.2.1.2 Over and over again, just snow, no sound, and those two channels. Ack!
So, DH gets on the phone with our cable company, and all they can suggest is turning everything off, and then back on. Nada. So then, they say, take the cable connection out of the cable box, and put it directly from the wall into the tv. Nope.
By this point, we've tried the remote just for the tv, that we normally dont use at all, and its not working. SO DH puts new batteries in it. Nothing. He tries the few buttons on the front of the tv. Nothing. Wont adjust sound, volume, or anything. But now theres a "menu" up on the tv, and (BIG SIGH) its in French. LMAO
At this point, Aiden is upset, and is running around asking to watch Elmo, and waiving her arms at the tv. She even tries hugging it, but alas, it doesnt work. hehehe
New development, now the on/off button, on the front of the tv, does NOTHING. Thats right, it wont even turn OFF!!!!!! If we want it off, it has to be unplugged. I start yelling "Go into the light!!" at the tv, and sis (on the phone, laughing hysterically) says "Theyre Baaaaack!" and says not to let Aiden go near the tv, like Carolanne, in "Poltergeist" haha. :(
Have I mentioned yet, this tv is only THREE years old??? And we have never had one single problem with it, ever! And, the cable box is new too. We just got a new one in Feb.
Latest development: Now there is a loud "clicking" sound when we turn the cable box on or off. WTH??
So, my question: is it the tv, or the cable box??? IDK. I was thinking tv, but my mom swears she had something similar happen once, and it was the cable box, sending some weird signal to the tv. Help?!?!?!? LOL
Well, I have a cable guy *supposedly* coming over sometime today....But who knows. I told them, if hes not here by three, I'll be gone, cause I scheduled a hair appt three weeks ago, and its her only open time for weeks, and I am NOT missing it!!! (Its been just about four months since my last cut, and I'm goin insane!!!)
So, I would really appreciate any input any of you mamas can give me. Have you ever had this or something similar happen? Any clue whats going on? Is your hubby a cable guy??? Any thoughts? LOL

TIA! I will update later. I am just praying we dont have to buy a new tv, cause theres no way in Hell thats gonna happen. Sigh.

One of our TVs has some issues. It was due to problems we had in one of our apartments with surges (there were constant electrical surges and it fried my alarm clock) and it messed up the TV. We didn't even have it that long when it happened and now, on occasion, it will go black and white and you can't change the channels or anything. I think we can turn it off though but I can't remember. We usually have to unplug it to get it to work. We still have it and have had it for about seven years now (we don't replace our TVs very quickly lol) and it still works just gets a little tempermental. lol We'll probably get rid of it this year because we really do not need two TVs.
It could be the cable too though so definitely check that out first.

I hope it's just the cable, and I hope it gets fixed. I've never had any experience like that with our cable or TV, lol...James would have a COW if anything happened to "his TV". I totally thought about ghosts when you said it was flashing through the channels, I was like "Ooooh...".

Yeah, theres no way we can afford a new tv, this one was bought with wedding money, 3 years ago. DH is PO'd, I'm mad, but *Aiden* is furious! LOL
We cant even put in a dvd for her, either, cause we would need to be able to switch the "input" button, and noe of the buttons will work. So no go. She was running around last night saying "Elmo? Please??" :P
Uh--oh....you might need the ETSP (Elmo 12 Step Program) for Aiden...haha!!!
It totally sounds possessed to me....good luck w/ the cable dude and hopefully it is cable rather than TV issue....
