A water purifier can keep your family safe
A home water purifier can be a practical solution for producing fresh filtered drinking water for you and your family. Using a good home water filter can be an inexpensive way to guarantee your drinking water is always safe and healthy.
Many house water filters are small enough to take traveling, camping or in the car but big enough to supply an emergency water supply for a group for months. Several models are verified to remove bacteria, microbes and pathenogens from standing or stagnant water. This indicates that they can also be used as an emergency water supply if disaster strikes. Choose a house water filter model that removes all the contaminants and you won’t ever have to worry about what is in your glass of water on any given day.
Everyone lives down stream from somewhere, and many sources are polluting the water supply. A home water purifier can protect you and your family’s health, wherever you live. Any number of unscrupulous businesses could be dumping toxic solutions into a water shed that feeds the water system near you.
You may never know whats coming out of the tap - until your child gets sick
The worst part about it is that you might never know because many chemicals and dangerous bacteria like Giardia, E-coli and parasites are completely odorless tasteless and invisible. You can protect yourself by using a water filter purifier that is rated to remove these dangers.
Nearly every home you walk into today has some sort of house water filter on the counter or under the kitchen sink. It’s for a good reason. If you live near a large city you know better than to drink unfiltered tap water. Water boil advisories are commonplace. Under water advisory the typical suburban house water filter on the end of the tap will not make your water safe to drink.
In my city, the local government pays the EPA fines everyday due to polluting the water supply. We pay fines and get to drink polluted water. This influenced my decision to use a home water purifier instead of a cheap home water filter that only removes silt and the taste of chlorine.
Water pollution is a problem everywhere
So is a house water filter really so important if you don’t live in a big city? What if you have a lovely second home in the mountains or are lucky enough to live on the beach? Surely, those water supplies are pure. Pollution is everywhere and much of it is carried by wind and rain, so it is nearly impossible for any water supply to escape contamination. Please make responsible environmental choices whenever you use chemicals or any kind, in or around your home. Your children could end up drinking that garden spray.
Bad water is a health hazard for the young and elderly
What would you do if you found out that you have been drinking contaminated water for years? Chances are you would be angry to find when you or someone you know began suffering from a debilitating or life threatening illness. A home water purifier could eliminate this problem before it happens and give you peace of mind as well as great tasting water. Be aware that many home water filters do not actually remove microbes, bacteria and pathenogens, so check for this feature when shopping for a home water purification and filtration system.
Be prepared for emergencies with safe drinking water.
Yes, this sounds pretty scary, drinking polluted water that has bugs in it and you might be thinking that would never happen to you. I hope and pray it never does happen to you, but thousands of people a year find themselves in the situation where they need an emergency water supply. How well are you prepared for a natural disaster?
Do you know what you would do if you suddenly had no water coming out of the tap for days or even weeks? This situation doesn't strike everyone, but when it does, clean, safe, filtered drinking water is the very first priority. Would your typical house water filter keep you safe? Absolutely not.
The EPA says that immediately after a natural disaster is the most common time for short term water contamination to happen. You may not even be aware that the water is not safe. This way while you are picking up the pieces - your family wouldn’t have to suffer dehydration or other health threats. When disaster strikes no one is truly ready for it, but you can be prepared with an emergency water supply because you can use certain home water filter systems to create clean drinking water from stagnant water.
Purified water gives you clean water and peace of mind
Drink healthy drinking water before or after an emergency. You should look for a water filter purifier that is gravity feed and can reduce contaminants without the use of power.
There are a lot of good products on the market today and they are inexpensive. Another important element in having a house water filter is to have a system that can be moved with you in case you need to evacuate your home. Don't live in fear of an emergency or polluted water supply - be prepared. The least you can do is have a home water filter system ready in the event of an emergency. Even if you have a water filter purifier, make sure that it filters out harmful microbes and bacteria as well a s offensive taste or smell. Be prepared to stay healthy.
Be prepared for emergencies and eveyday life
Protect yourself and your family by filtering your drinking water today and by using a system that can do double duty in an emergency. Look for a home water purifier that filters out dangerous bacteria, diseases and chemicals and that works without power or water pressure. Make sure it is approved by the EPA to remove harmful bacteria and contaminants. A great home water filter will give you safe drinking water in every situation daily use and as an emergency water supply.
A Berkey light home water purifier is small enough to take traveling but big enough for an emergency water supply. The Berkey light water filter is perfect at home or for a portable water filter system while camping, traveling or hunting.
Comments:
Do you remember all those pictures of Katrina victims who were surrounded by water, but none of it was clean enough to drink? It took FEMA days and days to get clean water (in water bottles anyway) to all of them. Or the outer towns who were affected less by the flooding and more by the breakdown of the general infrastructure. It'd be a real lifesaver in those situations to have something which could filter what you had on hand and make it save for the family.
The thing is, you'd need something that worked as well with stagnant water as it does with fresh water in the pipes, but if this filter you're talking about lives up to the hype, then it'd be perfect.
I agree that it is extremely important for parents to consider not only what is in the drinking water we give our children on a daily basis but also what we would do for drinking water in an emergency.
I am a father of five and was recently discussing the amount of lead in our drinking water with our pediatrician (we live in the midwest). He strongly urged utilizing a purifier - not just a filter - as well water is susceptible to coliform bacteria.
When I got home I immediately began searching on the Internet. Berkey has a tremendous presence online and at first I thought it would be a great system for my family. However, after doing some more research, I realized that this is NOT the technology utilized by FEMA, UNICEF, etc. I'm guessing the reason for this is because Berkey systems are incapable of removing tiny bacteria and viruses from water and that their flow rate is extremely slow. It appears that many of the 'rescue' organizations utilize germicidal ultraviolet systems which combine carbon filtration and a UV sterilization chamber.
Three companies I found were Noah Water Systems, Aqua Sun International, and SAFH2O UV. Neither Noah or Aqua Sun advertised their prices online (later found out Aqua Sun charges up to $4,000 for a 1 gallon per minute system). However, SAFH2O UV's Survivor system looked incredible! And at less than $500, it included EVERYTHING (except a battery to power the lamp and pump, but I'd rather pick out my own anyhow).
I received my system about a week after ordering it and took it out to the stream behind our house to test it. Within a couple of minutes (super easy to set up), I had it hooked up to my lawn mower battery and was blasting purified water out of the outlet nozzle. This thing produces TWO gallons PER MINUTE!!! Compared that to the "Big" Berkey, which only makes seven gallons PER HOUR, I knew I had made the right decision. Not only was this water microbiologically safe, but there was enough to provide for my ENTIRE family, as well as my neighbors! Two days later, I ordered one for my church. If there is ever an emergency, the church can now provide enough drinking water for the entire congregation within a few hours!
I strongly urge anyone who is concerned with the potential of an emergency situation and what their family would do for water to consider a SAFH2O system. They are far less expensive than any comparable UV system and much more effective than any other emergency system I came across.

That's definitely why we have a water filter. Can't stand the idea that one of us might get sick from contaminated water, it's just too common nowadays to take that kind of risk. Especially since kids have such weak immune systems. Getting a Berkey filter makes sense, too. I've heard that they're especially good at filtering out everything. Don't they use those for particularly bad areas where the water supply needs extra filtering? I wouldn't want something like parasites sneaking into our water supply because I only bought a halfway decent filter.
The portable one sounds like a good idea too, something to keep us safe when we travel.
Thanks so much for sharing!
