So, I've decided that it's time to go back to church. I just don't know which one to go to. I've been Baptist all my life but, I'm a little tired of getting beatup on Sunday Mornings, nights and Wed. nights....

I believe in the Trinity, Jesus is the Son of God and did die on the cross for my sins, I am a sinner, I am forgiven by the Grace of God, I am saved and when I die I will go to Heaven, life begins at conception, abortion is murder, homosexuality is an abomination before the Lord, adultry/lust is a sin, I can pray to my Lord without going thru anyone on this earth, the Bible is the inspired word of God. I don't believe that if I sin I am bound for Hell, because I can be forgiven simply by acknowledging my sin before God and asking for forgiveness. I don't believe that drinking a beer or too much will send anyone to Hell for the same reasons that I don't believe sin will send me to hell. Sin is sin. I do believe the only unforgivable sin is not accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and believing that He is the only Son of God.

Now having said all that, which denomination should I look in to?

Apr. 17, 2008 at 3:15 PM Lutheran might be a good choice.  We belong to the Methodist chuch, and while I agree w/ everything you stated above, they are more liberal in their beliefs.  I have, however, decided that the people make the church more than anything else and I LOVE my church.  There is a lot of love there, and everyone is friendly, they are indeed a wonderful family.  You may also look into the First Christian Church.  I don't know, maybe just try several out and see which one feels like 'home' :)

LOVE what you had to say there!  Right on!  I really like the Assemby of God church.  I was raised Baptist, but at about 22 found it to be pretty dead.  I started going to a pentecostal church and discovered the Holy Spirit.  What a change to have that active power in my life.

The Assemblies of God is kinda middle of the road pentecostal---some pentecostal churches get kinda lively and being raised baptist I'm uncomfortable in an overly charasmatic church, but the AG is more low key---we certainly believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, but we don't go overboard with all the dancing and stuff.  I like that best.  Might look into that.

Whatever you choose, go into it prayerfully and make sure the Bible alone is taught, not teaching from a man's works or a "prophet", and one that believes Jesus is God incarnate!
