The kids and I have a wonderful trip to the zoo today in the nice warm 80 degree weather! The day could not have been more perfect! The kids were on great behavior, the sun on our face and the zoo.... simply a wonderful day!!!

All was good until........ we entered the snake house, ran past all the creepy crawlies to visit our friend, Mr. Iguana. We always stop by and say hello to an iguana that is about 4 feet from tail to nose. On any given day he is lying on a rock, lying on the ground, lying on a tree branch... get the idea? This is one lazy iguana!!! LOL! Today, excitement as we looked into the glass room to see he was eating. I quickly took Caleb out of his stroller and the kids stood on a bench while we were all literally pressing against the glass to see the animal eating his veggies! He turned, we ohhhh'd and ahhhhh'd! He ate some more, we were totally fascinated! He turned and began walking, you would have thought we had never seen an animal walk before, it was great! Then he ran toward us and leaped onto the small metal ledge hitting the glass causing sheer panic from the three onlookers! Hannah screamed of terror, Caleb froze and I grabbed my kids off the bench and tried my best not to leave a puddle! It is amazing how when something takes a turn, you totally forget the glass is there!!! I am sure our screams echoed through the reptile house and other parents got a kick. Well, actually the young couple that rounded the corner had a front row seat and after a quick laugh, simply asked, "so did it get ya?" I think the panic in our faces let them know it was a close call to say the least!! LOL! As we stood on the floor watching the iguana doing his best to balance as he walked the ledge we regained our composure. About that time the iguana fell off the narrow ledge causing another outburst from the 3 of us... just this time uncontrollable laughter!

In the car Hannah was still talking about the iguana. We determined that it must be the "hold me" species of iguana much like my "hold me" kids and my "hold me" dog! Guess he forgot about the glass as well!!

What a great day with the kiddos!!! Can't wait until our next trip to the zoo!! :)
