I wonder who's crying now ...." - Journey
Happy Saturday everyone!
You know, really it's the simple things in life that make the best memories.
Last night, my husband told me that he wanted to take me out for a night on the town. He's been pretty busy these days (one of his co-workers is sick and he took on her extra hours) so he just wanted to spend some time with me. Well I was pretty pooped when I got in yesterday, and I really wanted to stay home, but I gave in. So we went out to dinner and Ted asked me if I was up for a movie or something. I said only if we could watch it at home; I wasn't up for sticky floors, cell phones ringing, and people talking through the movie last night. Anyway, on the way back hubby we stopped by Best Buy to pick up a few new flicks. After we found what we wanted (we got Beowulf and Hitman; I like action movies a lot more than the average woman), somehow we got detoured to the music. So I was browsing along and what do I find? Journey's Best of CD. I asked hubby if he had it because I didn't want to buy something that we already have, I knew that I didn't have it. He said he doesn't have it so I told him we're getting it. I got Hall & Oats greatest hits too, LOL! I LOVE the 80's!
Anyway, when we got back in the truck I popped the Journey CD in the player. So we're just riding and listening to music. "Let's just ride ...." I told my husband. He couldn't hear me because of how loud the music was so I repeated myself. "I just want to ride and listen to the music for a bit." So that's what we did. So we're riding and listening to the CD, and all of a sudden track #7 comes on. Guess what it is .... Yep, Who's Cryin Now. All of a sudden hubby and I start singing the song at the same time and we just look at each other and smile. Then the chorus comes on and we're both singing it so loud that it just took the volume inside the truck to a whole new level. "Two hearts born to run, who'll be the lonely one, I wonder who's cryin' now ..." I mean we just made a whole bunch of fun out of something as simple as a song, and that's what I love about our marriage. Together, we can make the best of anything. It was just the most memorable part of the night for me. We sang the songs after that too, but I guess since Who's Cryin Now is one of my favorite songs of all time (I can play it on the piano as well as some other stuff, but that's another story), that moment just stuck with me. We drove around through the whole CD (gas is high I know, we drive a truck, but there's nothing like riding around with the windows down) then on the way back home, hubby looks at me and goes "Play #7 please mam." I was like "Sure." Maybe he had the same feeling I did ... that us singing our hearts out on that song was the highlight of the night. So I started the song and leaned over to lay my head on his shoulder. He has a bad habit of driving with his right hand on my belly and I usually fuss at him about it but it didn't even matter last night. At one point he goes "Sing it Talan!" and we both cracked up laughing. I think Talan may have been in a bit of shock from all of the noise, or he could've been half asleep. He was fluttering here and there but not as much as he usually moves, but he sleeps off and on during the day.
Anyway, that's my sappy story for the day! LOL!
I hope you all have a great day!
