I think I'm just like most people - Sometimes I get a little stressed by all of the deadlines. But they are everywhere. You have to pay your electric bill by a certain date or you are charged a late fee. To me, that's a deadline. Those important pieces of mail we receive which read "reply by this date," another deadline. The doctor and dentist appointments, meetings, book signings, birthday parties and on and on it goes...deadlines.
Personally, I have been on the road shooting pictures for more than a month and now all of those pictures have to be processed to the lab, out of the lab and in the hands of the parents before school is out for the summer, now this is a very stressful deadline.
My sister and I have been planning a huge yard sale for more than a month, but with all of our "deadlines," we find that we only have one single weekend that we can spare, and now we are praying it doesn't rain on those days. We searched this morning and found in case of rain, we would have to move the sale more than a month ahead to fit it in again and even then, there is only one weekend we could use.
My "baby" will be home from college in two weeks and we have a window of only a few hours to get him moved out and be back on the road toward home in time for my husband to be at work the next day with at least a little sleep. I had hoped to plan several things to do while he was home (he's taking an internship in Alaska this summer), but recently received the news that he will only be home a few days before I have to take him to the airport bound for Alaska for the summer (trying to rearrange and squeeze some of those deadlines).
And...in the midst of all of that, my second book is almost finished and my proofreader says she has to have it quick because of her work and vacation plans...
It may sound as if I'm just about ready to scream, but guess what, I'm not. All of this is but an inconvenience to have the life that I have chosen; a close relationship with my family, children that I love dearly, a job that I enjoy doing and as for my books - they are the icing on my cake.
So with that said...Bring on the Deadlines!!

It seems that there are never enough hours in the day to meet the deadlines we set for ourselves!!!
