Anything special for 'Earth Day'? Nah.... just a little anniversary... no big deal *grin*

13 years ago, it was a lovely, rather chilly, yet sunny day.  There were lots of 'Earth Day' celebrations going on, but for us, it was a leeeeetle bit different: it was our Wedding Day!

We had a small wedding - only about 65 people there. But, it was probably the most lovely wedding I've ever been to (if I do say so myself!).  We picked a beautiful place called 'The Conservatory', which is a 100 yr old 'greenhouse' - only very large.  There were beautiful plants and flowers everywhere - we didn't really have to decorate anything.  We wanted it to be natural and lovely and green, and it was.

We chose 6:30 for our ceremony, as we would be facing west, watching the sun set, and we weren't disappointed, either - it was gorgeous, full of blazing reds and oranges, turning to fuschia and lastly to dusky blue and deep purple before our ceremony was over.

My son (now 21) who had just turned 8, walked me down the aisle.  He looked so handsome in his black tuxedo!  Because it was a small wedding, and we wanted it to be 'special' for him, too, he was also a 'groomsman'.  We have a picture, as most do, of our first kiss...... except, there to the right, you can see my son cover his face and turn away!  The funny moment of our wedding!

We had some important music, as everyone does, played during our candle-lighting ceremony.  It's a lovely song by John Gorka, called 'If I Could Forget to Breathe'.  Here are some of the lyrics....

... and nothing that I do will pass

Everything I will and make

And feel and dream and know will last;

I will rid the world of sorrow,

Stop all wars and pain

I will tell you of tomorrow,

As I rule the wind and rain.

I can do it all, it's true,

But only when I've done all that,

Oh will I turn away from you.

Only when I've done all that

Oh will I turn away from you.

This song takes my breathe away each and every time I hear it, just as it did the very first time almost 15 years ago when my now-husband turned to me and said, 'This song.... it reminds me of you and how I feel about you.  This says it better than I ever could.'  It reduced me to tears then, and still does today.

What are we doing for Earth Day?  Celebrating love and life and all that comes with it.

Besides: with a park ranger for a husband, I was certain he wouldn't forget our anniversary if it was also on Earth Day!  LOL!

Happy Earth Day, everyone!!
