weeeell....my little boy turned one on april 17th. his birthday party was scheduled for the 20th. the morning of the 19th, i went into dylans room to get him out of his crib and he was burning up. so i took his temperature and it was 101! so i gave him a dose of motrin, stripped him, and he went back to sleep. i kept checking his temp and it never went below 100 for the next several hours. i have one of those ear thermometers and thought i should get a more accurate reading by using the rectal thermometer. so i did...and boy was he mad about it! anyway, that evening when i checked him rectally, he had a fever of 104!!! i was freaking out!! so i called the doctor on call at his pediatricians office and he said to take him into the er. which is just perfect timing because my husband recently got laid off and he doesnt starts his new job until next month. which means no insurance. and being that it was a weekend and at night, the urgent care center was closed so i had to take him to the er at the hospital he was born in. so we get there and ewwww there was all kinds of people in there with lord knows what wrong with them, so i had my husband wait with dylan in the car and i waited in the waiting room for them to call him in. once they did, they took his temp and it was still 104. after i told them that the motrin wasnt working, they gave him a suppository of  tylenol. withing minutes, his temp dropped to 100. whew!! so they took blood and didnt see any bacterial infection or anything so after hours and hours of waiting, we were sent home and told to take him in to his ped first thing monday. so the next morning (the morning of the party) he woke up and was acting fine, no fever or anything. so we thought maybe he was just fighting of a virus. so we decided to go ahead and have the party. well later in the day, right before the party, he started feeling icky again and was in a terrible mood, but it was too late to cancel. so we carried on! and the party was fun...everyone but dylan had a blast! hahah...well he cracked a smile every now and then but he wasnt too happy most of the time. 90% of the pictures came out with a frown on his face! he screamed when he gave him his cake! sooo...didnt quite go according to plan to sa the least. anyway come to find out he has roseola. which is a rash that causes and extremely high fever for a few days and then the rash appears. the rash itself isnt itchy or contagious by contact...so the worst is over for us! he just has the rasdh all over his neck and chest! poor guy!! anyway...here are some pics. i'll post more later, but i thought id share the funniest ones now! =o) thanks for reading!
