Hey moms,

Please join the debate at my Squidoo lens about whether or not toddlers should still use pacifiers, or binkies as they've come to be known for some reason! Voice your opinion - I'd really like to know what others think.

NO they shouldn't . I mean it messes up their teeths and makes them think they are babies still, plus parents get so lazy, they don't deal with that issue so they continue to allow it. Stop babying BIG KIDS. It looks stupid to, but cute on the doggie :)

Apr. 24, 2008 at 1:47 PM I let my son use a binky til he was 2  1/2 yrs... and he was ok with it. He gave it up with no problem at that age. If i had it to do all over again, i would probably try not to let him have it at all, just b/c it was such a pain to make sure we had it every where we went.

Apr. 24, 2008 at 1:51 PM Also~ i see alot of people saying that is causes problems w/speech, it may in some toddlers, but in the case of my son, it didnt affect him one bit. He is and always has been advanced in his speech (even while still using the pacifier.) But i will agree that it can cause problems in the mouth, not only the teeth, but the roof of the mouth.  it can misshape the palatte. (this is from my sons dentist, lol)

This is my story of our Binky's...

My middle son is now 4, yup, he still uses a Binky. He has developmental delays that have nothing to do with his binky. Because of his delays, he is slow to get off of his binky habit. He's not potty trained either. My son has days where this world is overwhelming to him and the little comfort he gets from his binky is ok by me. He won't go to collage with his binky or still be in his diapers.

Please remember, not all parents are lazy or don't want to deal with "issues".

Maybe adults who get overwhelmed with life should carry one too.

"Maybe adults who get overwhelmed with life should carry one too."

I think that would be a good idea, LOL.
