So I've been thinking a lot about relationships and what not. Be it husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, even friendships. Do you honestly ever stop to look at relationships in your life that are either true relationships or just convenient for the comfort?
I can honestly say that through all of our ups and downs, Johnny is the one that I want to be with for the rest of my life. There isn't another person I could ever see myself with. I'm so happy that there is never a what if thought from either of us, and we are both secure in our relationship to know that we are not with each other just because a different situation didn't work out and we just settled. We are together because this is where we both want to be.
When I was younger I had so many friends, friends I thought I would have for a lifetime. As the years went by there are a few friendships that have really stuck. Not just because it's convenient, but because these women are really my friends. So often you have these friends who you seem inseparable from, it could be because you are both single, your other half is friends with their other half, or you both have kids. Whatever the reason you are always around each other, but once the situation that brought the two of you together changes, does the relationship? If it does, it was probably not a real friendship.
Take a moment out, look at the relationships you think are real. Can you see yourself waking up to another and being happier, do you wish another was next to you for all of your big accomplishments? If so, you are just settling out of convenience and you should take a step back, the relationship in the long run is doomed to fail. Take a look at your friendships, no matter what, do you think if one of your situations changed you two would call each other to update one another on the new situation? Would it be for the bragging rights, or share joy? Who are your real friends?
