motrin worked well for lila... the doctor told us to alternate between motrin and tylenol every 4-6 hours as needed. but i just used motrin.
also i put the tiniest bit of baby orajel on her gums where the teeth were coming in... and she loved to gnaw on a wet wash cloth.

If the fever is 101or more I would definitely give some Motrin or children's Tylenol. Motrin cay cause platelets to go down (if that is a concern for you - it shouldn't be if your child is a "normal" healthy child). We did lots of popsicles and frozen teething toys. Both of mine seemed to like those. The frozen juices tended to get sticky - but it kept them happy.
