I had the daunting task of shopping for a swimsuit today and during the adventure I made several conclusions.
1. It's not fun anymore.
2. With gas at $3.50 a gallon, it is no longer cost-effective to look at every store until you are so disappointed with the way they all fit that you simply buy one to be finished.
3. Most department stores do not stock them "age-appropriate." ( you know, the racks are full of those extremely bright colors of barely more than strips of material that would hardly be enough to cover the skin of a ten year-old. And they will be hanging right next to those other suits...
4. The ones for the mature women, they will all be animal print, have skirts on them, sparkle, shimmer, shine or have a tag promising to "shrink this" or "enhance that" (none of which will it really do). And no mature woman wants to go swimming in a suit that reminds her of a July 4th firework.
5. one-piece suit or two? The one-piece will not fit properly in all of your places and the two-piece, will not conceal any of those spots you were wanting to hide.
6. Big yellow flowers on a black background with skinny straps can't possibly be flattering on ANYONE!
7. The lady at the fitting room check-in IS wondering how many more suits you are going to try on.
8. It is a misconception that all curvy women are tall.
9. The suit in the catalog WILL NOT look that way on you.
and last but not least
10. Unless you are planning to swim in it, the cover-up, is only a temporary fix.
