My dd is a very consistent learner she goes along at a very steady pace and very few plateaus or lulls

My ds on the other hand is either surging forward at the speed of light or stalled out in one place....both extremes last for months at a time and just when I start to despair that he is ever going to progress further he starts another leap.

LOL

So a few days ago I posted on "Progress" that Ethan had said "I want" while handing me a box of wheat thins.

Now he's saying mama, da, all done, good stuff.  And today he dressed himself fully went and found my shoes brought them too me and said "I want go bye bye"

OMG I GOT A WHOLE SENTENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Progress periods.  Sometimes I think he just holds it in until he is ABSOLUTELY sure without a doubt that this will get him what he wants.  Then he lets loose until he get to a point he's unsure and then starts saving up again.

Ethan has his own pace and his own timing for everything and you just can't rush him....unless you want a meltdown

May. 9, 2008 at 8:59 PM After dealing with Allie for 21 years, he has told me a little bit about why he use to the things he did when he was younger. A lot of it had to do with being unsure of himself. He would keep the knowledge inside and was afraid if he let it out because he did not want to make a fool of himself for not understanding the social signs we take for granted. He wanted to do it right the first time, such as talking or writing, and if he could not then he would not do it...These babes of ours are much more complex that we think sometimes...Nan
