Breakfast in bed

cooked by 19 yr old son

snuggles with 4 yr old son watching movies while I knit.

trip to park in late afternoon to enjoy the sun and the lake and the playground

chocolatey goodness from DQ

flowers bought to adorn my porch

... and to honor

... and in memory of

my mother.

It's been just over a year since she passed.

Last mother's day spent in tears

crying over the loss of an incredible person

and the amazing strength of character

that raised five children through three marriages and a few disasters

and the incredible support of everyone who knew and loved her

as we wrote hundreds of thank you notes.

This year is still emotional - but better

not as many tears

400 miles between my sister, brothers, and step-father and ME

feeling lonely - but somehow stronger

In many ways I would return home to live - but the draw was mother

now, it's just not the same

I've bought flowers like the ones I usually buy myself

and flowers like what I usually bought for mother

They'll all find a home on my balcony where I can sit on a cool summer's evening and remember
