It turned out okay.  I didn't get to bed until 3am because I was having fun doing up some scrapbook pages dedicated to my mom.  Hubby said I could sleep as late as I want but I was awake at 8am and couldn't fall back asleep.  I had to pee but I knew if I stepped out of my room the kids would be on top of me and my day would begin so I laid in bed until 8:30 then finally got up.

Meagan and Brenna gave me the handmade cards they did at school.  Owen's class didn't do one but he drew me a picture.  Then we hemmed and hawed about going out to eat on a holiday Sunday.  It was pouring down rain but I really had a taste for Danish crepes from IHOP so we drove all the way out to Orland Park to go to IHOP (which is a 40 minute drive for us but their IHOP is much bigger then ours).

We got there at like 10:30 and were seated pretty quickly (I guess we beat the church rush).  The food took forever to get there because the place was crammed and the kitchen sounded like it was understaffed or had some new people working.  We all got our food except for Meagan who had to wait almost 10 extra minutes to get hers so I refused to eat until her food came.  The crepes were so yummy and the kids behaved rather well.  I only had to raise my voice a couple of times.

Oh, on the way there hubby asked me to get something out of the glove box and when I opened it out fell season one of Bones!  YAY!  There was a card in there, too.  He went out and bought them last night.  He ALWAYS waits until the night before and then has to rush around.  Men.

So after breakfast we went to Barnes & Nobles.  I wanted to look for a specific book but they didn't have it.  Instead the kids made out like bandits (like they always do when we go to B&N).  Meagan got 3 books on drawing and another story book.  Owen got 2 Star Wars comic books and a book of mazes.  Brenna got 2 Biscuit (the puppy) books.  Each kid also got a small stuffed animal.  The girls picked puppies and Owen got a llama.

I got a few books.  One was a guide to hiking spots in the Chicago area since we are always looking for new forest preserves and such to explore.  The next was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer novel (set after the end of the series and before the comics--I assume from the description).  I also got a book called "The Faiths of Our Fathers" which is about the religious preferences of the founding fathers which sounded interesting and was on sale and I like history.  The last was a book on crocheting little dolls that look like monsters (the kids have already picked out which ones they want me to make for them...if I ever have time.

Then we stopped at Costco on our way home to pick up a few more steaks for dinner.  Hubby went right over to the computer area and told me I could get the printer/scanner I wanted.  My old printer (an HP photosmart one) we got in like 2002, I think.  It still works beautifuly and I have never really had a problem with it (other then it randomly disconnecting from the computer when I needed to use it most).  The photos it prints are gorgeous.  I also had a scanner.  It wasn't a great one.  My dad gave it to me for my birthday in 2001 but I hardly ever use it because it is slow and the quality was never real good but it worked for what I needed.  The biggest problem was they took up so much space.  They covered the entire top of my desk hutch.

The printer I got is the HP C5250 all in one.  So it has a printer and scanner  I love the scanner so far.  It scans like 10 times faster then my old one and I don't have to freaking select each individual picture that I scanned and save them each, one at a time.  It registers if there are more then 1 picture and selects them and saves them all at once as separate photos.  So much easier.  I scanned a whole bunch of Owen's 1st birthdy pictures onto the computer.  Before I had just the 2 that I scanned back in 2001.

I also got another book at Costco--The Friday Night Knitting Club which I heard was good.  All in all we spent way too much money (pretty much hubby's entire paycheck for the week), it rained most of the day, I had to cook my own dinner and clean it up, but it was a pretty good day.  I think I'm actually going to call it an early night, make my bed (I washed the sheets the other night and still haven't put them back on the bed) and curl up with one of my new books for an hour.
