Oh boy. Stress.
I am still working temp jobs. My current one has a possiblity of becoming permanent, however the person I replaced was also told the same thing. She wasn't a happy camper when she left.
My 19 year old daughter doesnt' seem to get that there is no money.
Then worse, she gets sick. First the Dr. (Kaiser Permanente..those of you in California, Colorado and Georgia, know about Kaiser!!) tell her that she has bronchitis, nothting they can do, it is viral. 10 days later she goes back to Kaiser. Still coughing, Can't breathe very well. Dr gives her predisone, amoxillian, and abutitrol, says her bronchitis must be the bacterial kind. She seems to get better. She also seems to be living on Mucinex and cough syrup. She get done with that medicine, but 5 days after than, she is sick again!!! This time Robitussin with Codeine, another antibotic, nasal wash and more abutitrol. This Dr. ...says mmm, must be a sinus infection, probably not the same thing at all. Again she is fine while on meds. Goes off. She doesn't seem to be coughing much. So Monday she get sent home from work, her boss doesn't like the way she looks. I get home around 6pm, too late to call the regular Kaiser dr, so we go clear across town to the so called "Urgent Care" office.
They decide she is dehydrated. She isn't coughing but can't breathe, has a fever and her heart rate is all out of whack. By midnight, she is all stable, they send her home. With a prescription for Doxicillian, and some steriod nasal wash. She only takes two dose of this. Tuesday I get home from work, she feels like shit. I am so tired I fall asleep. Around 9pm, she wakes me up. She is having what I can only describe as an asthma attack. She is seriously not breathing. I call Kaiser after hours help nurse. In today's legal enviroment, she technically can't talk to me, because my ding aling of age daughter refuses to sign the HIPPA release. But the nurse can hear Sara in the background. She says "Girlllll, ya all better get that chile to the ER..." So to the ER we go. Of course, the ER is not KAISER, but it is one "they" approve of. Surprise, she is seen immediately! Oh IVs, on the Breathing thingies, chest xray, within a half hour...viola she has PNEUMONIA!! They manage to get her breathing back under control, but her temp would not come down. Nor would her heart rate, It was up between 125-147. She fell asleep in the middle of all this and her heart rate went down to 115, Still way too high. Her O2 was only around 80, it should be at least 91 to go home. The Dr wants to keep her for observation. Oh no, Kaiser would have none of that! So at 3am they transported by ambulance clear across town to their hospital. Where she stayed for two days. She is on steriods, antibotics, abutritrol and ADVAIR.
Her plan doesn't pay for Rxs..do you have any idea how much Advair cost? Kaiser cost..$200. I almost messed my pants.
She is now home, bored to tears. Talked her boss into letting her work only the ticket booth and not concessions or theatre trashing. That way she gets to sit. For some strange reason she still seems to think she is going to her boyfriends prom on Saturday night. So she goes and buys a prom dress. Oh look ma on sale! yea yea $31.00. The purse cost more than the dress!
I haven't seen the Kaiser bil yet. Technically my daughter is responsible for the bill. She is the subscriber on the health plan as when she turned 18 and graduated she no longer qualified for my Cobra insurance and besides they wanted $300 a month. I got her an individaul Kaiser plan for $91 amonth. Problem? oh yeah. No Rx. No maternity (hope she don't need that any time soon), $2000 deductible and 30% coinsurance. I gambled. I figured she was a healthy 19 year old and nothing "bad" would happen. I am thinking she is going to owe a minium of $5000.00. This just sucks. She probably wouldn't have this problem, had Kaiser diagnoised her correctly in the first place!!!
