Well, Cole had his initial eval for aquatherapy today!! Woohoo - he LOVED it!! Ok, so it took a little convincing. He wasn't too sure at first. He definintely knew he did not want to float on his back. But, she was so clever and snuck it in there anyway. The building with the pool is seperate so we were the only ones in there. This is a very good thing for Cole....he is so nosy that we struggle to keep his attention with us normally. (I swear, he must get that from his father...lol). So, this awesome pool is called an 'endless' pool. No, it is not like a doughnut, continually going around...it simply has some machine that makes 'currents' for some resistance which will make the muscles work a little harder. Let me tell you, Cole loved this part of it. Lisa (the therapist) was so awesome with him. At one point he had dropped his head as he was getting tired and when he came back up she was so sweet and gave him a big smooch. The most natural thing to do...as if her own child. I had to get permission to take her pic with Cole and she doesn't mind so next week I will get pics of them working together then post the pics.

I was so impressed with how hard Cole worked and while I was drying off he sat so traight and tall while balancing on her knee. What a big boy.

I am excited to see what all these therapies have to offer and can't wait to see the results!

May. 15, 2008 at 9:34 AM Yay! How fun & exciting. I can't wait to start next month. Levis therapist said his balance and awareness of his body will really improve with the aquatic therapy. So I hope the same for Cole! Keep me posted on his progress with it. The rehab center here can't technically provide aquatic therapy till he is 3. They do have a pool though and mommy & me classes and our service coordinator has okayed Levis OT to have one of our sessions a week in the pool. SO hey we kinda found a way around it!

May. 15, 2008 at 10:48 PM I'm so excited for you and Cole! YAY!!! Logan was in aquatic therapy around 12 months old or so. He had treatments every Friday for I believe three months or so (hard to keep track of ages and events, especially from two years ago). Let me tell you, there was a HUGE difference in Logan. I couldn't believe how much his head control improved. Even his trunk gained strength. It was awesome!!! Unfortunately we stopped at 15 months when Logan got his feeding tube placed. If it wasn't for that, don't know how long he would have gone. I've always wondered where he might have been had we continued. Anyway, he is back in it now once a week. Granted he hasn't been to school much since he started, but hope to see a difference once we are back into the swing of things. Can't wait to hear of Cole's progress. Puts a smile on my face just thinking about it!
