Who caused the biggest scene/ruckus in the restaurant? It was the bottlefed baby. Certainly not his fault, but first the bottle has to be warmed under the hot water, then it was too hot and had to be cooled, all the time he is crying(of course).

Breastfed baby starts to show hunger signs, only his mom notices she picks him up and feeds him. If had not been a former breastfeeder myself, I would not have even known she was feeding him. There was nothing visible that wasn't already visible without the baby there and her shirt back in place. The kids never even noticed this baby or his mom. They sure noticed the crying baby though.

This is not to disparage bottle feeding at all. My older son was bottlefed with both EBM and formula. This is only to say that in general most public breastfeeding goes unnoticed by everyone except former or current breastfeeders, yet the general argument against it is that people might catch a glimpse of a nipple, a piece of flesh not even 1/2 an in long in most cases. Yet, nearly everyone notices a hungry bottlefed infant because of the time it takes to prepare the bottle, he or she usually resorts to crying which is of course noticable.

Mar. 24, 2007 at 7:17 PM I am a breastfeeding mom and I do agree with what u said its much easier for me anyways to breastfeed because the baby is satisfied right away and she does not have to wait for a bottle to be warmed.

Mar. 24, 2007 at 7:18 PM Hasnt happend to us and DD is bottle fed. Thou it dosnt bother me to see a baby being BF either thou. I wish i had been able to BF longer. But each baby is different. With DD i usually had a warm bottle of water all ready and when she got hungry just added the powder and away we went.  But also i have seen BF babies get fussy and cry to.

Mar. 24, 2007 at 7:19 PM I see nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public if its done like that.  Now some people will unbutton and go at it and your like please.  I didnt' breastfeed but my mom did and she always did discreetly.

Mar. 24, 2007 at 7:21 PM Been there done that.  I'll never understand the argument against public breastfeeding, as I've never ever seen it cause a public disturbance. And the times I have done it, I've never seen anyone notice.  Frankly in order to "see" anything, you'd have to be staring pretty hard.

This topic is going to go way off but anyways, both my sons were and are bottle fed.  Never breast.  I have never once caused a crying scene because of his bottle being to cold/hot whatever.  I am always prepared with a tempid bottle this way I don't have to deal with that.  Also if it geting around the time for him to eat, I make sure that I heat it before we go into stores or where ever so I'm not scrammbling to get it ready.

I hate screaming babies for whatever reason LOL  Hungry, teething, whatever.  So I guess thats why I've always prepared myself.

And for the record, I have nothing against mom who breastfeed in public.  I've stated my "case" before and won't bring it up again LOL

Mar. 24, 2007 at 7:37 PM I have spent the last year wearing the same four nursing tanks over and over and over, so I could comfortably whip out my boob regardless of where I am or who is watching.  Its only lately since we started weening and I have started wearing regular bras and shirts that now I have started getting dirty looks, even though you still can't see anything, its just more obvious what I'm doing.  Lucky for me I still don't give a rats ass.

Mar. 24, 2007 at 8:45 PM his mother was unprepared - that has nothing to do with one method being better than the other, nor does it mean that bottle fed babies cause more distraction in public than others - it just means his mother was unprepared

Mar. 24, 2007 at 10:19 PM B.A.D. it was not really meant to be a post about one method being better than another, although, clearly breastmilk is better than formula, it is about how some people are so overly concerned with themselves or their kids seeing somebody's nipple. Clearly, in this case, the bottle fed baby was much more obvious that it was a feeding situation than it was with the breastfed baby. I really only even noticed the mom breastfeeding because I was looking around to check on my kids and happened to glance her way. I did not even need to look at the other baby, it was obvious to everyone in the room what was going on.
