I am so tired of everyone asking if my boys are in preschool and when I say no they look at me like I was the worst person in the world.  I get this from other SAHMs, the Social Services Department, and now ChlidFind.  Apparently if my kids are not attending school they will be unprepared for Kindergarten and cannot be tested for ADHD or any other disorder.  Like ADHD only manifests itself at school!  (This is based on genetics not because of my boys being boys; dad and granddad also have ADHD)

And why do they get miffed when I reply to their question that my kids know their alphabet, the phonics of at least 5 letters, their numbers 0 to 20, can draw a line and circle, know left and right, know directions (up, down, around, etc.), and write their names, even though they have never gone to preschool.  I like to think that is because what I did for free they are paying someone $1200+ month to do.  (Bad attitude I know, but I am fed up!)

Great if you can stay at home and afford to send them too.  If I was working, they would be in preschool, but fortunately my dh makes just enough for me to stay home.

UPDATE:  After Childfind did their initial evaluation and determined that further testing was needed (one twin escaped the room three times and the other was climbing the bookshelves) I haven't heard another word about enrolling them in preschool.  I can't wait to see what the Early Childhood Center (who will do the testing for ADHD) will say.  Because they run a county sponsored preschool for special needs kids, I wonder if the preschool talk will start up again.

They don't like it because if they think every child should be in preschool/school.  I get the same thing because I won't 'put mine in preschool and I plan on homeschooling my kids.  And frankly if your boys can already do all those things then they don't need to be in preschool.  My neighbor is in a similar boat.  The preschool wants her to enroll her youngest, but her youngest is on the same intellectual level as her oldest (they are 3 and 5).  There in no point in putting your boys in some place to teach them what they already know.  And by the way, you go girl, you know how to teach them yourself! (oh and it is all about the $, not the well being of the kids)  Stick to your guns!
