Yes to al three! I love birds and have a few feeders in our yard for them. I love to watch all the different types of birds that visit our yard to feed and raise young. This year has been special, too. A pair of robins built a nest on the upstairs window air conditioner and the boys and I loved peeking out at the eggs then the young. In only two weeks all four babies had fledged! I wish the boys could have seen them take thier first flight, though. It was a nice little biology lesson for Ethan and Zach, especially the one afternoon where a Spotted King Snake was below the nest and the parents were raising a huge fuss about it, trying to dive bomb the snake and making a racket. We actually sat in the yard and watched!
Another reason why this summer has been special for bird watching is the two new types of birds that have shown up in our yard. One was a Rose Breasted Grosbeak, which was here for just one evening, and the other is two male Indigo Buntings (I think I saw a female once, but not sure). This is our fourth summer here in Central Arkansas and the first time we've seen these two types of birds. So exciting!
Fishing...I've done lots of fishing when I was younger and my brother Steve taught me how to fish in the neighbors pond across the road. My ucle George had taken me a few times, too. Those were nice trips, just he and I. He was like a grandfather to me since I never knew my grandparents. Now that I'm older I don't go much at all unless DH takes the boys. They really like to fish, even though they don't always have the patience for it!
Wading....I remember one day DH and I went wading down the Little River a ways behind our house in NC. That part of the river was shallow and we walked quite a ways upriver, enjoying natur and each other's company while trying to keep cool on a hot afternoon. Nice, cheap entertainment!
