MomMeet Convention & Expo!

We're headed off to Music City for this first historic gathering of over 20,000 moms. May 21st - 24th, 2009 we'll be taking over the Nashville Convention Center and Sommet Center, meeting up with friends from all over the USA and the world. MomMeet is for moms of all ages and stages of life, and like the Cafe Mom community, this event promises to be diverse and exciting.

 

MomMeet is an idea borne out of a love for our friends on this social networking site, and we like to say that MomMeet is an event for Cafe Moms BY Moms from the Cafe. But it's going to be so much more than that. The Expo will be open to the general public and we hope to meet many new friends from Nashville and surrounding cities.

The Convention, however, is for us Cafe Moms who can't wait to meet face to face with the moms who have become our dear friends and confidantes, our support networks and sanity-keepers.

If you are Part of the Cafe Community, then gather up your girlfriends and meet them face to face at MomMeet! Many of us have found dear friends through CafeMom, but through the beauty of the Internet, we found them half-way across the country, or even on the other side of the world. Under normal circumstances, we may never get to make a personal connection - never be able to give hugs and experience each other's facial expressions - all things that make friendships like those we've begun online become so much more real and long-lasting.

That's the purpose of the MomMeet Convention.

• To give us time to connect with the moms we interact with regularly in our groups, on our friend lists, through competitions and popular journals.
• To help those of us for whom the Internet is our comfort zone to step outside for a few days and broaden our horizons with people we've come to trust.
• To be silly and comforting, to debate and learn, and most of all, to affirm that we are not alone in our daily struggles and challenges.
• To tangibly be able to support each other and have the kind of "girl time" that moms rarely afford themselves.

At the Convention, we'll have over a hundred different options for moms to expand their horizons through workshops based on interests. Each mom will be able to chose as many or as few of these as she wishes to attend, up to nearly 20!

Listed below is just a sampling of the kinds of workshops and events we are planning for the MomMeet Convention. We are currently recruiting facilitators for over 150 workshops that Moms can choose to attend based on their interests. If you'd like to make suggestions or be a volunteer facilitator, Ask me how. We're inviting everyone to be a part of this.

The Expo will be open to the public and held in the Exhibit Hall of the Nashville Convention Center. Companies who rely on the brand loyalty and buying power of MOMS will be showcasing their products, gathering Moms for mini-focus groups, introducing new items, and giving things away! What could be better than that?
