My son is just a very smart kid who has been pushing his limits to see just what he can get away with.  He's god at home....no problems.  He listens and does what he's told.  He keeps his room and stuff picked up and in order. (actually a little too much) He used to throw fits real bad over just little things but hes getting ALOT better with that and he has calmed down alot in that area too.  His teacher was the one who suggested we get him tested.  He was getting in trouble every single say and to her he couldnt keep still, quiet or concentrate and focus on what she was saying so when it came time for him to do his work he would get mad and frustrated because he couldnt do it.

It's been a long year and Tristan has come a long way too.  He was retested on his reading ability and he has actually made 2 years worth of improvement just this year.  He was referred (by his teacher) that he be in reading recovery.  She kept telling us how far behind he was in his reading.  The reading recovery teacher is telling us that he doesnt need to be in this class but she will keep him there for the 1 on 1 time with him.  He goes to her class for an hour each day.  So on his report card his teacher writes that Tristan really needs to work on his reading because he is far behind the state standard for 1st grade and then we get the test results back from this same test he took at the beginning of the year and he's made 2 years worth of improvements.  So, im starting to wonder what is up with this teacher???

the Dr. said that there are just too many conflicting things on the scores he got his the questionnaires and the tests.  He cant diagnose him with ADHD.....he says that he thinks its more that he's gifted and bored and because he's a boy he just deals with it in a different way.  Sierra my daughter was tested in the 2nd grade and now is in the gifted program.

I just think that the schools are more set up for the way a girls brain works opposed to a boys brain.

But im just glad to say that we have finally come to a conclusion to this ADHD thing and that my son (thanks to a good doctor) doesnt need any meds. for and conditions.   Since we figured that out.....some things have changed with Tristan and he's been making improvements in his behavior and i am proud of him!!!
