WOW = Woods of Webelos!
This past weekend was the WOW weekend. So, Tanis and I packed up the camping gear and headed out for an awesome weekend together. We arrived at Camp Lowden just before 8pm (I had to work until a little after 6pm). When get found our designated pack area, the dads and boys got our tent up within 5 mins. It was great for them to help. I was exhausted by then.
Saturday morning... brrr! It rained over night a little and it was chilly! But we were up and had breakfast. Tanis' first session for the day was "fire building". There were 7 sessions total: fire building, first aid, cooking, archery, sportsmanship, physical skills, and knife safety.
The boys made dinner for us grownups too. They had potatoes, onions, carrots and ground beef. They cut up the veggies. In an aluminum foil pack they put the ingretients and added some garlic salt. Cooked in the fire for 15 mins or so. It was really good!
Saturday night was the bonfire. It rained. It was a perfect camping trip. You can't really camp without the rain! It was so much fun. I am so tired and sore. Tanis had so much fun.
I wish it were important to Will to spend this kind of time with his son. It would have really helped their relationship to have spent the weekend together like that.
Anyway, tomorrow's our anniversary so we're going to dinner tonight. All of us. I'm hoping Will realizes what he's giving up to spend time doing other things. His priorities are not where I think they should be. His friends shouldn't come before his kids.
Anyway, I look forward to doing more with Tanis like this. We really had a great time. I'm ready to take the girls with sometime soon.
