Ok I am at a point in my life (32) where I am looking for meaning and purpose! What makes me happy? What makes my heart sing? When do I feel at my best? I think I have figured it out! I have always loved helping people. I am a realtor and help people but not really what i was looking for, I am a hairdresser love making people feel good about themselves and listen to my clients as they feel comfort in talking to their hairdresser (sometimes to comfortable, you know who you are lol) I am a portrait consultant helping people pick their portraits that they let us create as part of their life memories!!! All of this stuff is good , but I really want one certain career.

I think I would love to be a sociologist, or psychiatrist to help teen in life skills, to help married people learn to be best friends, and to help people be happy with who they are and not concentrate on their flaws only, and miss the true beautiful person that they are!! Ok now that i got all mushy......even talking about this right now makes my heart beat fast and feel good!! The thought of going to school for 5-10-15 years scares me! I feel I am to old!! I feel i am not smart enough!! not good enough!!! I was never good in school or with books and test, i have no clue how to write or even spell theseris (1000 page research paper)

I know I should be my first client because I am limiting myself with my own negative limitations instead of going with what my heart tells me....but I cant help it it scare the S#%^ out of me. Are there any moms that have decided to go to school after years of being out? I am looking for some inspiration here!!!!

May. 19, 2008 at 11:11 PM In 2004 I went back to school after 14 years out (graduated in 88 and did some community college til 1990). I got my Bachelor's degree in December 06.  I was able to take night classes and some online classes since I work full time.  It wasn't easy sometimes cos I missed a few awards ceremonies and weekends were spent on chores, homework and sleep.  BUT.... it was totally worth it.  If it's something you want to do, go for it.  You're never too old to go back - actually most evening classes are working folk, not so many of the "fresh out of high schoolers".  Make an appointment with a counselor at any colleges by you and see what they can do for you.  Good luck!!!
